This isn't the news we wanted.

Harley's full work-up yesterday revealed he has a collapsed trachea. Any stress, even just walking a few steps, causes his trachea to nearly close completely. Miniatures are prone to this condition, and we couldn't find any trauma or specific cause. The veterinary team took radiographs, performed an ultrasound, and scoped him. Surgery has a very poor prognosis and is not recommended; just the stress of it could be fatal.

We knew his breathing was a sign of something very serious, but hoped it was something treatable that could at least give him more time.

We'll call on Monday to make the appointment to lay him to rest.

Our hearts are broken, and we are so sad we didn't have more time to show him how good life can be. We will give him the best life we can until we say goodbye.

We are thankful the Sheriff's office rescued him from that situation, and he didn't suffer and die alone and forgotten in that pasture.

Sometimes all we can do is give them peace and end their suffering.

The volunteers will be so excited to see the training flags. They're such a favorite among our team, and everyone’s always trying to grab one before someone else gets to it 🤣

Bryant is a 3 year old almost ready for his first ride!

Genesis is companion only

Stella is under saddle and a nice trail horse. We do not recommend for a complete beginner as she can be forward on the trails.

Poor Harley. We knew when he came in that something was really wrong with his breathing.

Our veterinarian evaluated him today, and we've been referred to a clinic that can do further diagnostics.

He will need to undergo a scope and X-rays of his lungs.

We have an appointment scheduled for this Friday. Please keep this little guy in your thoughts and prayers. Florida isn’t a very kind state to horses with lung issues. In the meantime, he’s receiving multiple breathing treatments daily and wearing special boots while his hooves recover.

A revered military tradition, the riderless horse is an integral part of a full honor funeral, serving as a powerful tribute to the fallen. With an empty saddle and boots placed in reverse in the stirrups, the horse is led behind the caisson, symbolizing the warrior's final ride. As we commemorate Memorial Day, we remember the heroes (the four-legged ones as well) who have given their lives in service and acknowledge the loved ones they leave behind.
