Another proud collaboration! Keep Winter Haven Clean & Beautiful, held a successful event yesterday- our annual Winter Haven Shoreline Clean up and very thankful for support from our friends at Keep Florida Beautiful, and Garbo Grabber,.

✨International Coastal Cleanup fact of the day ✨

80% of land litter becomes marine debris.

That cigarette butt thrown out of the vehicle, that receipt that blew from your hand, the bag of trash dumped? Through wind, rain, and other acts: trash can easily be transported from where it was left to a water source.

We were proud to support this effort yesterday, for Coastal Cleanup day! While we are not coastal, we offer MILES of shoreline. Huge thanks to all who came out to help our efforts. We appreciate your support to Keep Winter Haven Clean & Beautiful,

No beach? No problem! 🌊💚

This International Coastal Cleanup, remember that protecting our coasts starts long before we reach the shoreline. According to NOAA, 80% of marine debris comes from land-based sources.

That means picking up litter in your neighborhood, park, or along a local waterway can help keep it from traveling downstream and eventually reaching our coasts.

Wherever you are today, pick up litter and for cleaner waterways and coastlines. 🧤🌎

Save the date for our annual Winter Haven Shoreline Clean up day, 3rd Saturday of September. Join us Sept. 19th! Sites will be at Heritage Park at Lake Howard, and Lake Hartridge Nature Park, 8am-10am. Supplies available while they last! Of course, we are not coastal, but we have plenty of Shoreline! Let's work together to Keep Winter Haven Clean & Beautiful,!

Did you know: in our current cycle, that our affiliates with their dedicated volunteers across the State collected 551,201 pounds of litter and cleaned over 449 miles of shoreline?

From Pensacola to Key West, every piece of plastic picked up, every fishing line removed, and every cigarette butt collected helps preserve Florida’s natural beauty and fragile ecosystems.

Why Beach Cleanups Matter in Florida:
🐢 Protect Wildlife: Marine animals like sea turtles, manatees, and seabirds mistake plastic for food or become entangled in debris.
🏖️ Preserve Tourism & Economy: Clean beaches support local businesses, tourism, and fishing industries.
🌿 Prevent Microplastics: Trash breaks down into tiny particles that enter our water and food chain.
🤝 Build Community: Cleanups bring like-minded people together and inspire others to leave a positive impact.
