SNAPS - Special Needs Alliance Parent Support

Supporting parents of children with disabilities. Group will be held the first Wednesday each month.

PCPS is offering a curbside meal pickup this Friday, Nov. 20, to provide students with food during the upcoming fall break. Please see the flyers below for details.

Friday's program is in addition to the regular meal service on Wednesdays for eSchool students (polkschoolsfl.com/lunchlocations).

SNAPS - Special Needs Alliance Parent Support is a community based group of 1,200 people who live with someone with varying abilities. Questions were submitted via email and social media. There was a total of 16 questions provided to each candidate. A committee of 20 of the most active members were selected to review the answers from the candidates. This is their findings:

We work to encourage all school board members have knowledge and understanding of the 20k + students who need support services in Polk county. Our goal is to create a collaborative relationship with all elected officials while providing education and raising expectations.

The SNAPS community proudly endorses the following candidates for Polk county school board in the August 18th 2020 election:

District 1 Billy Townsend - Polk School Board District 1
District 2 Anita Carson for Polk School Board District 2

Thank you for coming out to our SNAPS meeting last night and listening to Joanna from CARD speak about “Parenting Siblings of Individuals with Autism”. She made a lot of great points and even let me snap a few pictures of her notes 😊

Our guest speaker for tomorrow's Support group is Joanna Couch from CARD. Joanna has agreed to come speak with our group from the perspective as a sibling. Her brother has autism. She will have valuable information for our families who have children on the Autism spectrum!

Parent's and community members: Please Print out this flyer and share it with your Dr's office, Therapy Offices, Teachers, Day Cares, After School programs, Rec Centers, YMCA's. We have lots of folks who aren't on social media and we need to reach the masses! This is a community effort and we need your help to spread the word!
