Starting the day off right. After gathering critical medical supplies needed in Haiti following the devastating earthquake and with the help of our partners at Orange County, Comm. Siplin, and Orlando Health, the Junebug foundation is well on its way to helping those in need.

Hello Junebugger's!

Due to COVID 19, We regretfully have to cancel our annual Swing For Great Futures fundraising event for the West Orange Boys & Girls Clubs.

During this difficult time for our country and our community, it is those who are less fortunate who are being impacted the most. Our family and the Junebug Foundation have been supporters of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida for over two decades. This incredible organization, that helps so many children reach their hopes and dreams, needs us now more than ever before.

Their Clubs were forced to close down on 3/17 to align with the school system and help stop the spread. Due to Club closures, the Boys & Girls Club has lost significant grant funding. It is for this reason, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida has started a campaign that recognizes all donors, who give more than $250, as Club Heroes on their weekly e-blast.

While we will be unable to host the Swing For Great Futures event this year, we hope you will consider joining this effort and be Club Heroes for our children in Winter Garden and the West Orange community.

Please see attachments below for infographics that shows the BGCCF Club Heroes Logo, COVID Response, Impact of Dollars Donated,Food Service and Safety Kit.

Please click the Paypal link below to make a contribution. It will take you to the Junebug Foundation Paypal account.

Thank you again for your support!

Bahamas update November 2019: Ben and Randy visited Treasure Cay this past Friday and were able to see some improvement, but in general still a mess.

We were greeted by the big smile of Gordon and his battered black SUV. Airport is cleaned up a bit, but no rebuilding of buildings at all. We were greeted by friendly customs and police at airport with operations taking place out of 2 campers. Front row service by Gordon, he was able to pull right up to plane.

The Primary School being used for Treasure Cay and northward is open in Cooperstown. The Secondary School is operational via virtual schooling at the Lifegate Church in Blackwood, and we were able to deliver TVs to Principal Cooper for use with the computer lab that Rotary Club of Winter Garden set up. Although Blackwood north has power, it is very spotty in that it is being run off large area generators by BEC. A few of us may remember visiting Lifegate Church with Johnny.

Ride to Treasure Cay from airport was much of the same, no power pole replacement activity at all. Houses and roadway along the drive have improved debris removal and a few houses with at least dried in roofs. A large secondary dump located near airport with large amounts of debris placed in it.

Sand Banks is leveled for the most part and much of the area around employment housing at intersection of Treasure and the Highway is still uninhabitable. There are some houses with dried in roofing in that area.

As you drive into Treasure, again no power pole replacement activity. Sad to see the old Catholic Church totally leveled. You will see Florence and Forty’s house without a roof :(. We made it back to Gordon's neighborhood and fortunately his roof is dried in and house has been gutted with cleanup in the area. Trevor lives across street in need of some major roof work, but hopefully starting this week.

As we drove into town there are definitely signs that much debris has been removed and hauled off to dump, but still much to be done. They are repairing the roof of the one commercial building that Florence operates out of, but no work on other commercial buildings. The roof is nearly complete on that building. We were able to stop and visit Patti at the Clinic, and it was open with customers. Much cleaning around the beach villa area with many roofs dried in, but very few are even habitable.

There is no central water, nor power in Treasure Cay at all other than by use with generators.

As we drove into the residential area of Treasure Cay, you could see again that much debris has been removed, but still much to be removed. There are several work crews hired in Treasure Cay that we’re working to remove debris. With the trash removed it makes it a little bit easier to see the devastation that has taken place. Very few if any houses are mildly habitable. Most all of the houses have such severe roof damage that the insides of all the houses all have water damage.

On a better note, thanks to many of your donations, we were able to deliver our first semi load of relief rebuilding materials in that the shipping has recently opened up to Marsh Harbour and Treasure. Also an Orlando area roofing supply company Blackton Roofing donated several pallets of shingles enough to do three or four houses.

The relief group in Treasure Cay, supported by Tom Wheeler and Paul Watson, are doing great work with efforts of clean up and roof repair. They were able to get a large supply of roof materials and equipment to Treasure with another load heading that way next week.

We visited the Purple Porpoise. The roof is dried in and the lot is fairly cleaned up. We are hoping to get bearable, so that we might be able to camp out in it. Our thoughts are to assemble some work crews very soon with an effort to start repairing roofs and drying in the local Bahamians homes. Some of our Bahamian friends are making there way back to Treasure, but most don’t have much of a house to come back to.

If you are interested in a several day work detail in coming months let us know. It will have the same pretty view, but with camping style conditions in the Purple Porpoise (bring you favorite blankey and blowup mattress).

Hope to get another report out soon. Donations still welcome by Junebug Paypal account or checks made out to 'Junebug Foundation'. Thanks for all your help!!! Please share the post to spread the word! Jaylyn June Moogan Lauryn June Jamie Migliori June Randy June Trevor Lightbourne

🚨 🚨 ABACO BAHAMAS UPDATE: Great first week, but a lot to do!! Thanks for everyones help, we spent the last several days flying in about 12,500 lbs of goods to Treasure Cay. Pilot Ken worked tirelessly. Goods included: medicine and medical products (stocked medical center) ; water (everyone’s biggest desire); generators (2nd) ; food (3rd); baby food and baby products; lady and hygiene goods; clothes; blankets; gas; tarps; and many other needed things.

Thanks to Marina and Jim we had a daily surprise meal for many dozens of people (what a hit) of Subway, Chic-Fil-A, and McDonalds.

Thanks to Orlando Health we were able to provide Treasure with not only medical goods but 2 doctors that spent time at clinic. Mostly down to bumps and bruises, with continued care of existing conditions. All critical patients were removed. We also did a house visit to Haitian community, and they were very appreciative. The stories they had to tell of flood waters in there church were terrifying.

The stories of all our friends like Gordon, Ivan, Clevie, Trevor, Mickey, Chris, and others also terrifying. Although banged up and in light of it all their spirits were amazing.

We were able to get Trevor a Satellite Phone, so he could connect Treasure to the outside world. Trevor, Mickey, Johnson & Johnny have been incredible for the community. Trevor is and will work with Officer White, the Clinic, the Defense Force, and locals to keep them connected.

No power, water, sewer or cell service. We were able to meet with a BEC forman who outlined an initial game plan for Treasure, which as he said will include a temporary generator to overhead power. He said existing power plant is fine and will power south to Sandy Point, and a temporary generator will be put near Coopertown to provide power to the north. We all hope this will progress.

Most roads have been cleared.
We were able to visit the water plant and meet with the water and sewer folks, they have already had design engineers at the plants. Generator fired up at the plant north of airport. Unfortunately storage tank was destroyed. Again let’s hope for the best.

Mark was great help with security discussions with locals. Treasure Cay was very safe and calm the last several days while we were there. Defense Force visibly increased daily and Mark and I made some great contacts and friends with all security areas. One member of the Defense Force said he and others of his team were there to stay, so that was encouraging.

Many many locals are leaving Abaco for a time to sort things out. Sad but most have nothing left with it all literally being washed away. All buildings have severe structural, roof and water damage including: schools, stores, restaurants, gas stations, churches, marinas, fire stations. Nothing left untouched.

We spoke with Johnny & Jennesse they are fine, and get out of Johnny’s way Nippers is for sure coming back. Already starting to coordinate efforts.

We all need to figure out the next phase of getting heavy equipment and building materials to Abaco. I have spoken to many people who have nothing on their minds but getting back to Abaco.

Special thanks to all the team on the ground. Everyone we know has stepped up to help, total amazing. Much love!! Jamie June Randy June Jaylyn June Moogan & Lauryn June
