Thank you to Florida Voices for Health for inviting PSG to be a part of this year's Summit. What a committed and passionate group of people who gathered this week to support health equity for all!

PSG's Executive Director, Lynette Fields, was asked to present on the benefits cliff. That's when a small increase in income causes a steep decrease in public benefits which results in an overall decrease in the total household income. It keeps families stuck in low wage jobs without being able to work toward upward mobility.

PSG works with individuals helping them understand and then mitigate the fiscal cliff. Additionally, PSG, through our partnership with Circles USA, is working with 50 other organizations across the country to create ways to "smooth" the cliff at the state and federal levels.

The strength of Circles isn't just in the big milestones—it’s in the everyday moments where we learn from one another!

We had such a great time at our "Teach a Skill, Learn a Skill" night that we wanted to share a few more highlights. Seeing everyone—from our youngest kids to our adults—learning things like line dancing, wreath-making, and even DJing really shows what this community is all about.

For Circles to work well, we need volunteers to help in more ways than just becoming Allies. If you want to support the mission but aren't sure how, you can:

Circles Orlando, an initiative of PSG, kicked off April in style with a Spring Celebration. Great food, intentional community, tasty Easter treats, signs of hope--an awesome evening!

The Circles model is based on the idea that building relationships is key to ending poverty. Weekly meetings provide structure and a shared meal for families to create their future story, and the intergenerational activities create positive childhood experiences with trusted adults.

Circles West Orange, an initiative of PSG, changed up their weekly schedule on the 5th Tuesday of the month in March by having a "Teach a Skill, Learn a Skill" Night. Both Leaders and Allies shared skills like how to DJ, writing Haikus, needlework, making spring wreaths, creating bookmarks with dried flowers grown at home and then line dancing. Dorcus Dillard from Healthy West Orange joined us to teach hulu-hooping. What a night!

Circles creates an intentional community of support for children, youth, and adults so that folks have the tools and resources they need to work toward economic stability. These intergenerational nights are all about positive childhood experiences and fun for the adults too!
