Shout out to Orange County, FL Supervisor of Elections for their awesome Adopt-a-Precinct (AAP) program that allows organizations to serve as poll workers and raise money for their organization. It is a long day but well worth it! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ‘

Thank you to those who not only show up to work 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day but also attend 3 to 8 hours of training in July AND help set-up the day before! ๐Ÿซถ

Folks from our Circles program filled up our AAP team and we worked both precincts at the beautiful lakeside Tanner Hall in Winter Garden. Thank you to the staff at Tanner Hall for showing up super early on Tuesday morning.

The AAP program helps us understand the election process--so many checks and balances, builds teamwork, raises money, and provides visibility to our organization. It's a win-win-win! ๐ŸŽ‰

Helping people move from crisis to long-term stability isnโ€™t a sprint. Itโ€™s more like a marathon relay.

Real change takes time. It takes trust. And it takes nonprofits willing to work together, not just during a crisis, but over months and years. The baton gets passed from one organization to another, but the goal stays the same: helping people move from surviving today to building a more stable tomorrow.

Emergency services matter. Crisis intervention matters. And if we want to break cycles of poverty, we have to think beyond the immediate need.

Long-term stability rarely comes from one program, one organization, or one intervention. It comes from relationships and collaboration over time.

A community partner opens a door. A volunteer walks alongside a family. A workforce organization helps someone find a better job. A housing organization helps create stability. A healthcare provider addresses a barrier that was keeping someone from moving forward. One nonprofit passes the baton to another.

Each organization contributes something different. Together, we create a path that no organization could provide alone.

PSG is grateful for this kind of collaboration between Matthew's Hope, Orange County and our Circles West Orange Location. We recently welcomed more Matthew's Hope folks to our newest cohort working on long-term economic stability goals. ๐ŸŽ‰

No single organization can run the whole race. We need each other. And most importantly, the people we serve benefit when we work together. They donโ€™t have to navigate a maze of disconnected services alone; instead, they have a network of organizations working together to help them move forward. ๐Ÿค

Over the past couple of weeks, we celebrated and said goodbye to Britney Salhab who served as our Circles Central Florida Children and Youth Coordinator for the past two years. She poured her heart into the younger generation ensuring all felt welcomed and taught them some Circles skills along the way. She shared her creativity, organized beyond Circles activities, and brought on the fun. Her commitment to children and youth took her to Children's Week in Tallahassee and the Bread for the World Summit in DC speaking to those making decisions impacting young people.

Thank you, Britney! We will miss you! ๐Ÿซถ

Thanks to AmeriCorps VISTA and Communities of Transformation for making this position possible!

Last week Circles Orlando hosted our third Community of Connection night as we continue to build partnerships in our new location at Reeves Ministry Center on Fern Creek Avenue. We had a full house! Bonita Thomas, Circles Orlando Coordinator, welcomed prospective Leaders, Allies, and supporters. Lynette Fields, PSG Executive Director, shared an overview of Circles. We had great food and a good time together.

Training for our next cohort of Circle Leaders starts next week, August 20. There's still time to apply if you are interested in having a supportive community working alongside you as you set goals for economic stability. Apply at this link.

PSG was grateful to be a part of Family Promise of Greater Orlando back to school event at the end of July that served hundreds of families getting ready for the new year. We were able to share how Circles Central Florida might be a good support to families juggling daily expenses.

Thank you, Family Promise, for coordinating this amazing event and to all the organizations coming together to share resources!

It was fun to connect with another partner, St. Luke's UMC in Orlando, who provided some of the backpacks for the event.

๐Ÿšจ Happening TODAY! Join PSG this evening, Tuesday, August 11th from 4-5PM, for an interactive webinar: Exploring the Benefits Cliff.

Ever wonder why a small raise or extra hours at work can sometimes cost families more than they gain? That's the Benefits Cliff โ€” when a modest increase in income triggers a sudden drop in assistance that isn't fully replaced by the new earnings. It's one of the hidden barriers keeping ALICE households (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) stuck in place, even when they're doing everything right.
This webinar will unpack what the Benefits Cliff actually looks like and share strategies for building smarter, more sustainable paths toward financial stability.

This week we were delighted to have the Spring of Life United Methodist Church Children's Mission Camp team back to help spruce up the outside of the HUB, our PSG office space. They raked up leaves, planted new flowers, took tree debris to the curb, cleaned up the side and back yard, and pressure washed the front wall and driveway. That was a lot of work in just one morning. ๐Ÿ‘

Thank you for all the great work on a hot summer morning! ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐ŸŒž
