We are proud of the fact that our adoption contract requires adopters to return any animal adopted out from us to come back to us should they no longer be able to keep them or care for them.

What IS upsetting is when an animal comes back years later with untreated medical conditions and we were never contacted for help.

Most of the time the damage is severe (and sometimes terminal, although not in this particular case) but this is exactly why we include on our contract that you promise not to allow the animal to go on with untreated conditions.
This really does still happen 😞and had we known, we would have intervened much earlier for Zelda’s sake.

Zelda came back drooling and smelling of infection and has a painful mouth so we will need to fundraise to get her a dental and extractions that can run up to $1900.
Fortunately her bloodwork showed nothing else seriously going on and her heart and lungs still sound good.

But it’s more than just that. We noticed her not walking correctly.
Her legs were bowed in and she walked on bent legs with a weird gait.
Our Vet determined that her patellas were so far out of place and had been for so long that they could no longer even be manipulated back into the correct place.
The muscle ligaments were now so contracted that they could no longer stretch out into a normal position.

Zelda will require surgery on both of her back legs after her dental has been completed but this will need to be done by a specialist.

Right now we are focusing on fundraising for her dental and getting an appointment with the specialist (to get an estimate of what exactly these leg surgeries are going to cost us).
We will handle one medical issue at a time so that we can get this 5lb girl healthy and adoptable one day down the road.

4 yrs ago we rescued a VERY pregnant pitbull that a high kill shelter was about to euthanize.
2 days after arriving to us, on our way back from her vet visit, Jenny gave birth to the first of 13 puppies in the back of my Chevy (yes, that puppy was a male and we did end up naming him Chevy 😂).

Unfortunately we did lose 3 of those puppies 💔 but the others were divided up between our rescue and another (now closed) bully rescue.

Zara was the smallest surviving puppy of this litter. She was adopted out to her dad in Idaho.
Unfortunately a medical emergency and lack of finding housing allowing bully breeds where he needed to go caused her dad to have to return Zara to our rescue.

Thanks to Pilots N Paws pilot, Joe, who answered our request for a flight from Idaho back to us here in Roseburg, today Zara arrived back to her rescue family.

Zara has an incredible new foster mom that she has already started to adore 🥰

In his time of need, Zara’s dad did not have to worry about finding a new home for his pitbull mix or worry about giving her up to unknown people.
Zara had the protection that reputable rescue offers…a lifetime commitment.

After coming to our rescue earlier this year, we found out Sweetheart was pregnant 2 days before she gave birth to 3 cute puppies.

Her foster family had already fallen for her so they agreed to foster mom & puppies until the puppies could leave and Sweetheart could be fixed.

That surgery recently happened so today we got to finalize Sweetheart’s, now Lainey’s, adoption into her forever family.

No more puppies ever and Lainey is VERY happy about that and loves her new family with her whole heart!

Happy new life baby girl! ❤️

Grogu is a 3 yo male Shih Tzu that found himself at a high kill shelter.

We know very little about him except for that he was with another dog so we believe that he is dog friendly.
