Proud to see such a strong North Carolina presence at this year’s WBDI Summer Conference!

Grateful for three outstanding days at the WBDI Summer Conference filled with professional learning, collaboration, and meaningful connections with women band directors from across the country.

From conducting workshops and engaging breakout sessions to learning from keynote speaker Dr. Paula Crider and participating in reading sessions, the conference provided valuable opportunities to grow as an educator and musician. Beyond the sessions, the conference provided the space to strengthen relationships with one another while building new connections with women band directors from across the country!

Looking forward to seeing the impact of the ideas, experiences, and connections made this week in our classrooms and rehearsal halls across the state!

What an unforgettable time for Women Band Directors International at the 2025 Midwest Clinic—and an especially proud moment for our WBDI North Carolina chapter!

🎉Congratulations to Ruth Petersen, recipient of the WBDI Silver Baton Award, honoring outstanding national-level service, musical excellence, leadership, and lasting contributions to bands, communities, and our profession. Ruth’s impact embodies the very heart of WBDI, and we are so proud to celebrate her well-deserved recognition!

🎉 We also celebrate Fran Shelton, who was awarded a WBDI Lifetime Membership—a testament to her dedication, service, and lasting influence within our organization!

This year’s Winter Luncheon was historic:
Our largest attendance ever
A growing organization of 714 members strong
A moving tribute to our founder, Gladys Stone Wright
An inspiring keynote from Jason Fettig, whose thoughtful and affirming remarks reminded us why this work—and this community—matters

WBDI is more than an organization—it’s a family. A place of mentorship, advocacy, excellence, and heart. Congratulations to all who were honored, and thank you to everyone who continues to serve, lead, and lift one another through music❤️
