"What tried to silence me gave me a voice.
What tried to break me revealed what was already inside of me.
I gathered the pieces of my life, found the jewels buried beneath the pain, and became a woman I had not yet met.
I am proof that you can come through the fire and still rise with your faith, your voice, and your purpose intact. -” Rev. Kezra Y. Marshall

WHY WORDS MATTER: THE DANGER OF VERBAL ABUSE

Abuse does not always leave bruises.
Sometimes it leaves broken identity, silenced voices, and spiritual confusion.

Abusive words can:
• Diminish worth and distort identity
• Create fear disguised as “correction”
• Control behavior through shame and intimidation
• Erode confidence and decision-making
• Normalize harm under the guise of love or leadership

📌 Verbal abuse is violence.
And its effects are real. Awareness saves lives.
Discernment protects souls.
Truth breaks cycles.

💜 Help exists. Support exists. You are not alone.

WHY FAITH COMMUNITIES MUST BE INFORMED

Domestic violence does not disappear because we pray.
It disappears when we pair prayer with truth, wisdom, and action.

Abuse can hide behind scripture when truth is distorted.
Survivors often suffer in silence inside the church.
Leaders and members need tools — not just prayers.
Awareness saves lives.

When one home is unsafe, the Body is wounded.

The Church is called to be a place of refuge, not a place of silence.
Protection is ministry.
Intervention is love.
Truth is healing.

Let us rise informed.
Let us respond responsibly.
Let us protect life — without compromise.

Faith Takeaway for the New Year!

If one home is unsafe, the Body is wounded
New Year. Renewed Faith. Renewed Responsibility.
As we enter a new year, we remember:

Scripture reminds us that love protects, truth frees, and light exposes what darkness tries to hide.

This year, may we:
• Refuse to spiritualize abuse
• Refuse to silence survivors in the name of peace
• Refuse to confuse endurance with holiness
To the Church:
Covering abuse is not grace.
Intervening is love.
Protection is ministry.
💜 Help exists. Support exists. You are not alone.
