Winston-Salem Symphony Chorus

Winston-Salem Symphony Chorus The Symphony Chorus is an auditioned symphonic chorus made up of the most dedicated and talented choristers from the Triad region.

They rehearse weekly and perform regularly with the Winston-Salem Symphony. The Symphony Chorus is the premier choral organization in with the Winston-Salem Symphony. The Chorus performs annually with the Symphony in large symphonic choral works, and they perform stand-alone concerts and collaborate with local choral organizations including the North Carolina School of the Arts, Winston-Salem Sate

University, and Wake Forest University. The Symphony Chorus is under the direction of Dr. Christopher Gilliam.

This summer we’re featuring some of our members and their hobbies and interests. Our featured member this week is soprano Rachel Hupfeld. Rachel accepted an invitation to join the Grammy-nominated Singing Rams of Winston Salem State University on their summer tour of Vienna and Salzburg, Austria. When asked about some of the highlights, Rachel said, "It was so exciting to be an honorary Singing Ram. The experience was priceless! I appreciate the welcome I received from students and alumni. It was a packed schedule and the group approached it with such joy! It was truly a special time with many wonderful memories". Congratulations, Rachel, on this lifetime experience!

This summer we’re featuring some of our members and their hobbies and interests. This week’s featured member is alto Lisa Sykes, who has been volunteering at the International Black Theatre Festival since 2007. The biennial festival draws theater lovers to experience theater, staged readings, workshops and more from theater groups around the world. When asked why she keeps volunteering, Lisa said it’s because of the vibe of the festival. “It's a spiritual homecoming. It's also a pleasure to be around so many people excited to come to our city year after year. “ Congratulations on your years with the IBTF, Lisa!
