THIS. IS. WHY. WE. GO.
El Esfuerzo Escuela (The Force School)
Our Holy Spirit-Called team accepted the challenge of “going somewhere new”. We went to La Libertad in the Petén Department of Guatemala after our visits to homes in Chichicastenango, where we have devoted our efforts for many years. We plan to continue to serve Chichicastenango - so many relationships we have built with our God Family there.
BUT GOD!
We were seeking discernment: was this it and what were we to do with “it”?
He led us to follow the little niggling feeling (Holy Spirit) that there was something “new” for us to do. So we went, trusting Him and the ones He sent to make arrangements for us. Everything there was new to us BUT we just knew that was where we were meant to be.
With the Good Lord’s guidance and help from His people there with whom we had formed friendships (Astrid Roman and Edin Tejada), we were set!
We discovered - a rural school desperately needing our help. This photo shows the school’s teachers and principal with our Team of Five. In the background you can see the unfinished bathrooms for the school children. (The children frequently have to leave school to go home to find a restroom.) Our friends were able to secure some funds for the bathrooms, but with little construction knowledge, they were only able to get this far. We want to complete these bathrooms! The Holy Spirit has led us here for “such a time as this”.
