📣 DAY OF ACTION: Let’s keep the pressure heavy and voice strong opposition to the Trump Administration’s freeze on essential federal programs.

Text ‘FightTheFreeze’ to 52886 (or visit https://p2a.co/pGSrl09) to send a pre-prepared message to your members of Congress about the urgent need to ensure the White House never again oversteps its statutory authority or blocks millions of Americans from lifesaving services.

While the Administration has since rescinded its memo, we know the fight is far from over. We must continue to resist any efforts to dismantle these critical programs.

SAVE & SHARE WIDELY.

In a disturbing display of whiplash, the Trump Administration has rescinded an order to immediately freeze a wide array of essential programs and services.

The order should’ve never happened in the first place. It puts millions of Americans at risk and demonstrates a blatant disregard for the well-being of families, students, small business owners, farmers, veterans and other everyday Americans who depend on the federal funding to survive and thrive.

Federal assistance is a vital lifeline for state and local governments, faith-based institutions, and nonprofits – entities who provide essential services that keep our communities across the country strong and resilient.

We won’t let up on behalf of our communities.

🚨 The 47th President has signed an executive order to end DEI within the federal government. And he did it on in a deliberate mockery of the principles Dr. King championed.

We’re ready to act immediately.

Join us virtually tomorrow (Wednesday, January 22) at 11:30 AM ET as we convene an emergency strategy session and public forum with civil and human rights leaders. At the Demand Diversity Roundtable, we’ll set the record straight on what is and what it isn’t and strategize a robust, unified response to protect diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.

You can watch and engage via livestream right here on our page. Find more info at https://bit.ly/DemandDiversityJan22

📢 “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Today, as we honor Dr. King’s legacy, we are reminded that progress is born from courage and resilience during times of challenge. At the Winston-Salem Urban League, we stand committed to advancing justice, equity, and opportunity in the face of today’s pressing issues.

💡 Let’s continue the work together. How will you take a stand for what matters most in your community this year?

On Friday, January 17, the Winston-Salem Urban League was presented with a $15,000 award from Spectrum to use towards the Digital Certification Program (DCP). This program helps participants in the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) grow their computer literacy skills, providing them with a free laptop computer and one year of internet service for completing the program.
