Our van needs major repairs, and we're asking for your help covering the estimated $5,417.40 cost.

Right now, water is pouring in and the roof is rusting through. The van is how we get supplies and support out to the people who need them, so we can't let it sit.

Staff update! Meet Trey (he/him), our new Community Resource Navigator. 💜

Trey grew up outside Philadelphia and made a brief stop in Texas before moving to Greensboro in 2019. He learned about drug checking and safe use habits well before learning about harm reduction as a formal movement, and has spent the last several years volunteering with community organizations in various capacities. He believes everyone should be equipped with the knowledge, tools, and resources to use drugs safely. Outside of work, he plays Australian Rules Football, plays video games, is a cyclist, and enjoys attending concerts and watching sports!

💌 The ACLU and ACLU of North Carolina have joined our cause to protect the home we've had for the past decade.

Winston-Salem City Council is considering zoning restrictions that would push our Syringe Services Program out — and it would cost lives. SSPs reduce overdose deaths, stop the spread of disease, and connect people to real treatment and rehabilitation. These restrictions also violate federal disability and religious freedom protections. Here we go again, folks!

You all might remember back in December when we posted about a city ordinance that will dictate where our program can operate. The ordinance was drafted, however, the decision was made to not move forward with it shortly after. Then suddenly, nearly six months later, we were informed that the ordinance would begin making its way through the planning board and move to a city council vote likely by the end of this year, which came as a bit of a surprise.

We will be releasing more information on this in the coming weeks, including ways to help support us. But for now, here is a recent WS Journal article by Scott Sexton regarding the ordinance.

Supplies are only half the story — what happens after? 🩹

At TCHRC, we provide sharps containers, needles (including IM needles for HRT), and wound care supplies — always free, for anyone, no questions asked. But we also make it easy to safely dispose of what you no longer need.

Our free public syringe & medical waste disposal boxes are serviced by our Mobile Unit and located at:
📍 Dwelling Church / City with Dwellings — 502 N. Broad St
📍 ARCA — 5755 Shattalon Dr
📍 Highland Avenue Center — 650 Highland Ave
📍 Green Tree Peer Center — 1025 W. 1st St
📍 TCHRC fixed site — 639 S. Green St, during open hours

You can dispose of syringes, GLP-1/other injectable medication, insulin needles, and other medical waste. (Please no f***l matter.)

- Peer Support Specialist license
- Harm reduction experience
