The West Salem Civic Club was first organized by veterans returning from World War II for the purpose of helping schools, churches and residents of the community, as well as providing a forum for social interaction in the neighborhood. Its members also constructed a facility that has become one of West Salem’s rare and hidden community treasures. Located at 1010 Hutton Street just past Diggs-Latha
m Elementary and across from the entrance to Washington Park, the building is an all-purpose structure that boasts around 1,800 square feet with plenty of meeting and activity space, a commercial-style kitchen, two bathrooms and even a working fireplace. With almost 2¼ acres and adequate parking, it is an ideal venue for many types of community activities, meetings, parties and other events. Join us and let us know your ideas on what types of fun and positive activities you’d like to see happening in your community. Whether it be cookouts, pot luck dinners, arts & crafts workshops, game nights, networking events, service projects or anything else you can imagine… let’s make it happen. The Civic Club will be hosting programs for children, families, seniors and adults of all ages to make the Civic Club a place you enjoy and share in the fellowship of our local community.
