Forsyth Community Gardening

Forsyth Community Gardening Forsyth Community Gardening exists to support developing, new, and established community gardens in Forsyth County, North Carolina.

Forsyth County has enjoyed a vibrant community gardening culture for over 250 years. The nation's first community garden was founded here in 1759, in what is now Historic Bethabara. Our mission is to support residents in establishing and sustaining community gardens, primarily by developing local leaders’ skills in community organizing and sustainable horticulture. Forsyth Community Gardening:

As many of you know, I am leaving my position of Community Gardening Program Coordinator at Cooperative Extension. I want to thank all of you for sharing your gifts, knowledge and talents with me throughout the past two years. This is a very special program and it is only made possible by all of your hard work and dedication to your community. It is a very difficult decision to leave and I will miss seeing all of you at our gatherings and workshops. I am confident whoever comes into this position next will be great and continue to support all the work each of you do.

The staff members at the Extension office will still be here to support you along with our network of partners. Community garden leaders have been sent information about ongoing resources and who to reach out to in the interim between coordinators. If you have any questions, please call the Extension Office at 336-703-2850.
