We are a cooperative organization who works to engage our whole community in the effort to end homelessness in Winston-Salem, NC. Our diverse partnership of congregations, colleges, civic groups, and individuals – including persons formerly homeless – come together, empower, and humanize those who face homelessness, provide winter emergency shelter and outreach services, and strategically plan how we can integrate important homeless resources in our dynamic city and its developing downtown. We aim to innovate problem-solving with businesses, police, city servants, and health care professionals

We strive to leverage our city’s strengths to address the challenges of homelessness.

Big news, Winston-Salem: your gift to City with Dwellings now counts twice. 💛

Two generous donors have offered to match every gift, dollar for dollar, up to $15,000, through October 23.

The timing matters. In January, neighbors asked our Housing Stability Fund for about $28,000 a month in help. By August, that number was nearly $96,000. Rent, power bills, groceries, and gas are hitting families all at once.

Your gift helps cover an overdue bill, a ride to a safe place, or the small cost standing between a neighbor and losing their home. Right now, $50 becomes $100. $100 becomes $200.

32 families. 26 days. That was the timeline families at Magnolia Apartments received to leave their homes.

From May through July, we walked alongside 30 households as they searched for housing, navigated court dates, and worked to keep a roof over their heads.

Today, the team at Guitarists for Good dropped off two donated, refurbished guitars, and we’re still smiling about it.

A gift like this is about more than an instrument. It’s a reminder that our neighbors deserve joy and connection and the gift of music.

The Casserole Crew at CwD is growing! We are grateful for the volunteers who have cooked and delivered casseroles for our freezer.

The Casserole Crew is part of our Supportive Housing program and provides quick meals to those just entering housing.

As we have all experienced, moving to a new space is a lot of work. Being able to have a meal or two on hand to reheat is a blessing.

We provide the recipes, you provide the cooking and love. Then drop off your meals at CwD and we will get them to those in need.

Little Angels Pet Pantry

No neighbor should have to choose between feeding themselves and feeding the pet they love.

That belief inspired Little Angels Pet Pantry, started by our own Tanisha Moreland. Every two weeks, neighbors can receive pet food to help stretch the resources they already have.

For many of our neighbors, pets are family: companions, comfort, and a steady source of love. Supporting that bond supports the whole person.

Little Angels needs wet and dry dog and cat food, puppy and kitten food, treats, bedding, toys, collars, leashes, coats, flea and tick products, bowls, and other pet supplies.
