The Dream Center of Forsyth County empowers low-income families and individuals of all ages by providing them with transformative resources resulting in a path to self-sufficiency. We rebuild hope, one dream at a time.
We provide services that support immediate, tangible needs like food, clothing, and necessities for newborns and offer transformation through counseling and mentorships. For 25 y
ears, we have connected individuals with the resources they need through our programs including our: Care & Share Food Pantry, ReDress Clothing Boutique, Outreach Alliance for Babies (OAfB) and Operation Thanksgiving Blessing (OTB). Our Food Pantry has reached 107,092 families in Forsyth County, distributing 4,902,332 pounds of food in 20 years! ReDress provided 133,759 pieces of gently used clothing/accessories to 8,591 families since 2011. In 2024, we distributed thousands of clothing and accessories to those in our community and those suffering from the effects of Hurricane Helene. OAfB served 686 mothers and children, with each receiving a layette bag filled with diapers, wipes, clothing, a Safe Sleep Kit, a board book, and other materials.
We offer restoration through substance abuse and group meetings through Celebrate Recovery, a 12-step faith-based recovery program that meets weekly. We have provided grief, behavioral, family, and marriage counseling through Family Life Counseling since 2018. In 2024, we served an average of 45 active clients through one-on-one services each month, providing marriage, substance abuse, grief, and behavioral counseling. We also work with homeless families to support them through the Continuum of Care (CoC) Program in partnership with the City of Winston-Salem and Bethesda Center for the Homeless. Our newest program is called Evolve, an adult mentoring program. This research-based anti-poverty workshop addresses the root causes of poverty. Evolve participants create their own plans for a sustainable life, build healthy relationships with others, set short- and long-term goals, and develop a step-by-step plan to achieve those goals.
Our new home is located at 1201 N. Liberty Street and is 35% larger than our previous building. We served 15,000+ low-income individuals and their families in 2022. We reached 25,000 in 2023 and again in 2024. We will further increase outreach to 33,000 in 2025.
