One of the things I love most about this work is the opportunity to sit at tables where real change begins.
Today I had the pleasure of meeting with Robert Lee, Senior Acquisition Manager for Campbell Soup Company, to discuss how we might work together to create greater opportunities for young people in our community through Big Brothers Big Sisters Services, Inc. of Winston-Salem.
Every day, I am reminded that our children are surrounded by untapped potential. What they need are caring adults, meaningful relationships, and organizations willing to invest in their future. That’s why conversations like this matter.
With more than 110 young people currently waiting to be matched with a mentor, we know the need is great. But we also know what is possible when community leaders, corporate partners, volunteers, and advocates come together around a common purpose.
I am grateful for the conversation, encouraged by the possibilities, and excited about what the future may hold.
Because when we invest in our children, we invest in the future of our entire community.
