Habitat Forsyth

Habitat Forsyth Safe, decent and affordable housing for hard working families in Forsyth County. Interest-free mortgage payments go back to Habitat to help future homeowners.

Building Hope by Building Homes: Steadfastly adhering to a philosophy of a “hand-up, not a hand-out,” Habitat is a powerful engine of collaboration and reciprocity whereby those who qualify-- by having a history of steady income, verifiable need and a willingness to work hard-- soon become involved in giving help to others. Through this proven and integrity-based strategy of making home ownership

a reality, Habitat for Humanity has fundamentally changed lives in 90 countries, all 50 United States, and for more than 400 Partner Families right here in our community. The Habitat Forsyth affiliate also has three ReStores which are open to the public. They sell gently-used furniture, appliances, fixtures, surplus building materials and other items at 25-75% off (or more) their regular retail price! Most items in the ReStores are donated by members of the community which saves about 400 tons of items per year from going into the landfills! All proceeds go toward building more Habitat homes.

The walls of our 40th Anniversary home went up this week! We had an amazing group of volunteers from Truist working with us, and they got to raise the walls, taking us one step closer to completing this very special home.

Truist staff participate in The Lighthouse Project, a community service initiative where teammates volunteer in their local area to help their neighbors. We appreciate your partnership with us!

So grateful for our partner organizations and the impact we create together. A special thank you to Fine Line Homes for your partnership in providing home maintenance education and equipping families with the tools to sustain and care for their homes.

Mason Eggers of our Winston-Salem office recently teamed up with Josh Smith of Smith Plumbing LLC to host a Homeowner education class for Habitat Forsyth and their Youth Empowerment Program (YEP!).

This is the first of four classes that will teach hopeful homeowners within Habitat for Humanity’s Homeowner-in-Progress Program essential skills for managing a home.

Special thank you to Mike Presnell & Paola Candelaria with Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County for allowing us to be a part of their program!

We’re so excited and proud to participate in the Earth Day Fair this Saturday! Habitat Forsyth ReStore staff members and Homeowners in Progress will be volunteering at a table where you can learn more about our programs and stores, and get a coupon for sales at all 3 of our ReStores.

Earth Day events in communities across the nation started over 50 years ago. Today, our community faces on-going serious challenges, and the Piedmont Earth Day Fair is an opportunity to act!

At this year’s fair, community members will learn about individual and collective actions we can take to secure a more just, resilient, and environmentally sustainable future. With more than 125 earth-friendly vendors, you’ll be able to tour electric vehicles, learn about solar panels, take action with local nonprofits, enjoy arts and crafts, and more.

The event takes place at the Winston Salem Fairgrounds, this Saturday, April 18th, from 10:00-4:00, and is a FREE family and community event.

We'll see you there! 😄🏠☀️💚🌎

✨FROM HOMEOWNER IN PROGRESS TO HOME BUYER! 🏠

Jasmine is excited about her new Habitat home and all that comes with it: Many hours of watching her 7-year-old daughter play in a new big yard. The pride and joy of owning a home of their own. And a soon-to-be new member of the family – a dog – now that they are leaving apartment living behind.

It’s a far cry from the uncertainty she felt when she filled out her application for the Habitat homeownership program in early 2025. “I was really tired of living in an apartment and waiting on maintenance to fix things. My sister urged me to apply to Habitat but I was hesitant, thinking I might not qualify. I took a leap of faith and did it. If you really want something, you’ve got to go for it.”

Jasmine, a pharmacy technician, says her Habitat journey has been a good experience. “The financial classes have helped me a lot in learning how to budget and save. It really helped me raise my credit. We had a cooking class, which I really enjoyed. We volunteered in the ReStore and in the community, and I loved that most of all."

“I am overjoyed and overwhelmed and feeling so many emotions right now. This is such a blessing, and the Lord has placed this house in my hands for a reason. I am very grateful and thankful for this opportunity. I would tell anyone considering Habitat to take that leap of faith and apply, because you never know what can happen.”

Jasmine's story was also featured on FOX8 News - Congratulations!

The sound of hammers filled the air last Saturday, as volunteers from Shady Grove Global Methodist Church joined with Help Build Hope to construct the walls of an entire Habitat house! In just under 3 hours, all the walls of one of our new homes were built and assembled at the church - they will be taken down and moved to the home site very soon. We were also joined by members of the Arbor Acres community, who are sponsoring the construction of this home.

Help Build Hope creates partnerships with us and other organizations to facilitate wall build events just like this one. In 2025, Help Build Hope engaged more than 7,500 volunteers through 61 events, resulting in 78 sets of walls built across 16 states. These walls were provided to partner organizations like Habitat for Humanity, who transformed them into complete homes, offering safe, stable, and affordable housing for families in need, including those who had suffered catastrophic loss from natural disasters.

To them, Arbor Acres, and the church volunteers, we could not be more grateful! 🏠 🩷 🙏🔨
