🙏 Prayer Point | Those Who Guard the Doors

They work long shifts in difficult environments. They deal with tension, conflict, and heartbreak on a daily basis. They are the correctional officers, administrators, and staff of the Forsyth County Detention Center and Forsyth Correctional Center — and they deserve our prayers.

FJPM's ability to minister inside these facilities depends on a working relationship of trust and respect with the staff who run them. We are grateful for every officer and administrator who allows this ministry access and treats our volunteers and chaplains with professionalism and care.

Pray for jail and prison staff today. Pray for their mental and emotional health. This work takes a toll. Pray for safety on every shift. Pray for those among the staff who are people of faith, that they would be a light in their workplace. And pray for an atmosphere of mutual respect between staff and inmates that creates space for God to work.

🧦 A Huge Thank You to Jennifer Pearn and Hanesbrands! 🧦

We are so grateful to Jennifer Pearn and Hanesbrands for their generous donation of socks to our organization! This simple gift makes a real difference in the lives of the people we serve.

When someone leaves jail, they often have nothing to wear home. No coat, no proper shoes, sometimes not even a clean pair of socks. These donations also go into our holiday hygiene giveaways at the prison and jail, bringing a small but meaningful comfort to people during a difficult time of year.

A clean pair of socks might seem like a small thing, but it means dry, healthy feet, protection from blisters and infection, and a simple sense of dignity for someone starting over. For many of the individuals we serve, it's one of the few "new" things they'll have.

Thank you, Jennifer and Hanesbrands, for seeing this need and stepping up to meet it. Your generosity truly warms our hearts (and our clients' feet)! 💙

🙏 Huge thanks to First Baptist on Fifth, Winston-Salem for hosting us at their Serve Together day this past weekend! Together, our members assembled 100 hygiene kits and wrote 100 encouragement notes for the incarcerated men and women we serve in our community. It was so meaningful to see people visit with Holly Solomon Kessler at our table to learn more about our ministry and how they can get involved. Grateful for churches like First on Fifth who open their doors and hearts to serve alongside us. 💙

🎲 Game Night at the Restoration Center! 🃏

Recently, more than a dozen formerly incarcerated men came together for an evening of spades, dominoes, laughter, and friendly competition. Four lucky winners walked away with gas gift cards, but honestly, everyone left a winner.

Nights like this matter more than they might seem. For men rebuilding their lives after incarceration, having a safe space to connect, laugh, and just be part of a community is huge. It builds trust, reduces isolation, and reminds each guy that he's not walking this journey alone. Reentry isn't just about jobs and housing. It's about relationships and belonging too.

Thank you to everyone who made this night possible. We can't wait for the next one! 💙

Today's Wednesday Word of Encouragement is from Mark Hogsed, Executive Director.

Galatians 5 is a powerful chapter. In verse 13, Paul reminds us that we are made free in Christ. However, that freedom cannot be an excuse for selfish living or unrighteousness. Paul says instead to love and serve one another. How do we ensure we live this way? Verse 15 answers that question by stating, "Walk by the Spirit and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh."

🍦 Beating the heat, one scoop at a time! Last week, residents at Cherry St gathered for an ice cream social featuring several flavors and all the toppings you could ask for. It was a simple but meaningful way to bring some joy and community into a hot summer day.

A big thank you to Senior Chaplain Jeff Carter for organizing and leading the event — moments like these matter, reminding everyone that small acts of kindness can make a real difference.
