Our Story
We commit ourselves to the cultural advancement of our community through the Arts and Entertainment industries. We are resolved to further a more effective and informed organization of highly skilled men and women working in all of the crafts, classifications and categories of the entertainment and exhibition industry; to aid workers in securing and improving working conditions, hours and wages; to secure full recognition and enjoyment of the rights and liberties to which all working women and men are justly entitled under our nation's constitution. We will provide to our community of clients the most skilled professionals, experienced technicians and hands-on trained, certified and licensed operators. We dedicate ourselves to establish peaceful and harmonious relations between our members and our employers; to safeguard and promote the principles of free collective bargaining and to increase the stability and vitality of American labor. We commit ourselves to the working men and women of our community for their mutual aid, protection and advancement; to preserve the autonomy and dignity of the individual without regard to race, creed, age, s*x, s*xual orientation, marital status, color, national origin, or gender identity; to encourage workers to educate themselves in local, national and global affairs; to utilize this knowledge towards an informed vote and exercise the full rights and responsibilities of citizenship, and to perform their rightful part in the political life of the local, state and national communities. We are pledged to protect and strengthen our democratic institutions and to perpetuate the cherished traditions of our democracy and preserve the independence of the labor movement; to protect the labor movement from any and all corrupt influences and from the undermining efforts and effects of any groups or individuals who are opposed to the basic principles of democracy and free democratic unionism.
