A quick Friday night reminder that we have an open house tomorrow (Saturday) from 9am until 3pm. The trains are staged and tested. Come out and see them! Steam, diesel, vintage, modern….and yes, we have a Big Boy 4014 for the Union Pacific fans.

We like to preserve history, and sometimes, that history is 1:87 scale. The Carolina Model Railroaders club in Greensboro had a freelance line in days gone by that they called the Carolina Midland. As time went by, the CMR changed focus to prototype modeling, and were recently selling some surplus CM equipment. So, for anyone who was a fan of the Carolina Midland, we now have a throwback to that layout. You may see some Carolina Midland cars mixed in with our freight trains here at the Southbound Model Railroaders in Winston-Salem. It’s just the right thing to do to preserve some Piedmont area railroad history.

In addition to N&W steam with a British single note whistle, we also had a UP Challenger making the rounds at the club last night.

Come out to Winston-Salem to see our club, and don’t forget the Southbound Model Train Expo on August 29-30 at the W-S Fairgrounds. 300 tables plus layouts. Everything you need for your model railroad!

This must be a “what if” preservation paint scheme. We’re thinking of letting the tank engage in target practice later. Your mileage may vary!
