On June 19, 1865, enslaved people in Galveston, Texas learned they were free — more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. That day became Juneteenth: a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing work of justice.

At SmartStart FC, we recognize Juneteenth as a federal holiday and a reminder of the power of community, equity, and truth-telling. Our office will be closed Friday, June 19 in observance.

We encourage our families, staff, and community to take time to reflect, celebrate, and honor the significance of this day. 🖤❤️💚
