✨ Special opportunity to experience the Freedom Ride through Winston-Salem this weekend! ✨

🚐 The Freedom Ride is a local pilgrimage that explores the untold stories of Black faith, courage, creativity, and power-building in the face of oppression. Quiet as kept, Black Winston-Salem has a rich and beautiful tradition of resistance. By recovering this history, we equip ourselves to work more effectively for healing and justice in the present.

Thanks to Drum Majors Alliance and L.I.T. City, Freedom Rides have been facilitated since 2012, offering hundreds of folks the opportunity to step into this powerful legacy. This particular Freedom Ride is a fundraiser for the youth development work of Lit City. All proceeds help their grassroots efforts to build in solidarity with and to enrich the lives of Black youth in Winston-Salem. 🖤

A Path Forward For This Moment

🔗 Read the Full Statement Here: https://bit.ly/EFStatement24

In our community and across the nation, we are witnessing moments that define and shape our collective future. Equity Forsyth is proud to introduce our latest statement, "A Path Forward For This Moment," which advocates for a transformative approach to justice that centers healing and accountability.

This statement addresses the need to shift from punitive to restorative justice, emphasizing how such practices not only address harm but also build stronger, more connected communities. We outline our vision for a system that uplifts every individual, particularly within our educational institutions, to foster environments where all can thrive.

We are grateful for the invaluable input and tireless advocacy of all our coalition members. Your contributions have been essential in shaping this powerful message and vision. Thank you for your continued commitment to equity and justice.

Join us in embracing and promoting restorative practices in our schools and community. Together, we can turn these ideals into everyday realities.

Pandemic school closings have shined a spotlight on the financial and resource disparity between schools and students and how they contribute to the lack of racial equity in academic achievement, access to high-quality instruction, and healthy learning environments.

Instead of joining the effort to return to the status quo of education, we support Action4Equity's calls on school, city, and county leadership to ACT NOW to adequately address the status quo which prevents real and meaningful systemic change to take place in Winston-Salem Forsyth County.
