Jason "Matthew" Potts a loving son, amazing brother, grandson, cousin, nephew, uncle, and fun-loving caring friend to all, passed on to Heaven's Shore on August 10, 2018.
Matt was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on August 7, 1983 and grew up in Kernersville, North Carolina. He graduated from Gospel Light Christian School in 2001. Matthew moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 2010. He spent many days helping other's pursue their love of the ocean at the Cherry Grove Fishing Pier, where he was employed.
Matt is survived by his mother, Sandy Potts, of Kernersville, NC; father and step-mother, Mark and Molly Potts of Winston-Salem, NC; brother, Michael Potts of Newland, NC; sister Michelle Smith (Brandon) and two nephews, Easton and Hayden of Spring Lake, NC; two step-sisters, Bobbi Lynn Carpenter (Andrew) of Kernersville, NC and Brittany Brim (Brandon) of Walnut Cove, NC; paternal grandparents, Avalon and Marilyn Potts of Advance, NC; aunts and uncles, Terri Miller(David) of Advance, NC, Sherri Barnhardt (Tim) of Greensboro, NC, Kim Brown (Tom) of Mocksville, NC. Matthew is also survived by many special cousins and friends. The family would also like to thank Ron and Carol Keller who were parents away from home, and his co-workers and employer, Steve Gann.
A memorial celebration of life will be held at the Cherry Grove Fishing Pier on Thursday, August 16 at 7:30 p.m.; and a memorial service will be held at Gospel Light Baptist Church in Walkertown, NC on Tuesday, August 21, receiving of friends from 3:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. with service following. Rev. Frank Shumate officiating.
