Today we had General James Gorham come read for our scholars during Harambee. General Gorham is a North Carolina native, and the first African American general of the North Carolina National Guard.

Today at Ashley Freedom School we had TWO wonderful Read Aloud guests during our Harambee.

First, we had Avery Hall Sr. read "When We Say Black Lives Matter" by Maxine Beneba Clarke. Mr. Hall is the Senior Vice President/Commercial Banking Leader at Wells Fargo in Winston-Salem.

Next, we had Denise Mitchell read "The Story of You" by Lisa Ann Scott. Ms. Mitchell is a Special Education Teacher at Ashley Academy.

Thank you to our wonderful Read Aloud Guests! We love having members of the community come and support Freedom School!
