👩🏾‍🔬 Scholars in S.T.E.M. 🚀

This week with D.T.L.A. was a powerful reminder that when scholars are given opportunities to explore, create, and dream, incredible things happen!

A heartfelt thank you to Kilpatrick, Townsend & Stockton for providing an unforgettable S.T.E.M. Day and for investing so generously in our scholars.

From invisible ink experiments and DNA exploration to the ultimate egg drop engineering challenge, our scholars experienced science, technology, engineering, and math in action! Through hands-on problem-solving, teamwork, communication, critical thinking, and real-world application, they discovered S.T.E.M. shapes the world around us.

Every experiment, conversation, and challenge expanded their horizons and opened new doors of possibility. They are our future scientists, engineers, mathematicians, physicists, chemists, and innovators!

The celebration continued at BJ’s Restaurant, where we took time to honor the hard work, growth, perseverance, and accomplishments of our D.T.L.A. scholars. Every milestone deserves to be celebrated, and we couldn’t be more proud of all they have achieved this summer.

🌟 Education, Affirmations & Adventure!

This week, our scholars were reminded that success is built through purpose, perseverance, and believing that anything is possible.
🐏 Winston-Salem State University welcomed us for an unforgettable campus experience where our scholars discovered what it truly means to be a RAM! We are so incredibly grateful for the rare privilege of hearing directly from Chancellor Bonita J. Brown, whose inspiring full-circle journey to becoming the University’s first Black female Chancellor is a powerful reminder that hard work, passion, and purpose create lasting impact. Thank you for pouring into our scholars, encouraging them to pursue their dreams, and showing them what visionary leadership looks like.

💛 A heartfelt thank you to Alexia Mitchell, Licensed Clinical Therapist-Associate and Founder of Reset and Heal,PLLC, and proud WSSU alumna, for equipping our scholars with practical tools to prioritize their mental health. Through affirmations, activities, and the powerful backpack illustration, she challenged us to recognize and manage the emotional weight we carry while developing healthy ways to navigate stress, trauma, and life’s challenges.

🎉 And of course, every great week deserves a little celebration! We wrapped up our week with tons of fun at Frankie’s Fun Park! 🏎️

To Winston-Salem State University, Chancellor Brown, the student ambassadors, WSSU staff, Alexia Mitchell, and everyone who invested their time and wisdom into our scholars—thank you. Your contributions are invaluable and help shape the next generation of leaders, innovators, and changemakers!

🩺 : Opening Minds & Inspiring Futures. ✨

Our Dream Team Leadership Academy scholars had the incredible opportunity to visit the Wake Forest University School of Medicine, and what an unforgettable experience it was!

From exploring state-of-the-art simulation labs to engaging in meaningful conversations, interactive demonstrations, and hands-on learning, our scholars were given a firsthand look at the many possibilities within healthcare. Every moment sparked curiosity, built confidence, and encouraged them to dream even bigger.
Experiences like these do more than introduce careers, they help young people envision themselves as future physicians, nurses, researchers, healthcare professionals, innovators, and leaders who will one day make a difference in their communities!

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the entire WFU School of Medicine team for welcoming our scholars with such kindness, excellence, and intentionality. Thank you for investing your time, sharing your expertise, and creating an experience that was both educational and deeply inspiring.

Thank you for reminding our scholars that with hard work, purpose, and opportunity, their dreams can become a reality. 🖤

🤩 You Can Do It!

At The Dream Team Leadership Academy, we believe the children are our future. Therefore, the theme of last week was simple, yet powerful: You can do it. All of our wonderful presenters went beyond just telling our scholars… more importantly, they showed our scholars what is possible!

💼 Entrepreneurship
Thank you to Mr. Parrish, franchise owner and operator of Chick- fil-a Stanleyville, who shared his personal journey. His story reminded our scholars that dreams don’t have to stay dreams. Through hard work, perseverance, and faith, they can do it too!

💡 AI & Innovation
A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Carloe Moser for empowering our scholars to dream bigger. He challenged them to walk boldly in their purpose, embrace their creativity, and see themselves as innovators, builders, creators, coders, and problem-solvers by safely using AI as a tool to shape the future.

🏊 Swimming & Water Safety
Teaching our scholars to swim and equipping them with life-saving water safety skills has been a goal of ours for some time. Last week, that dream became a reality.

Thank you to the Fulton Fulton family YMCA, Ms. Courtney, and our very own Ms. Kinley for making it possible.

Watching scholars move from uncertainty to confidence—from the shallow end into the deep—was about so much more than learning to swim. They learned skills that could one day save their own life or someone else’s.

When you overcome fear… you can do it.

When you’re surrounded by mentors… you can do it.

When someone believes in you, cheers you on, and jumps in beside you… you can do it.

When you take one brave step from the shallow into the deep… you can do it!!

We are so proud of our scholars for their curiosity, determination, and willingness to take their knowledge to the next level. Here’s to another great week of D.T.L.A.!

💪🏾 : Pulse, Process & The Press 🤩

When it comes to Dream Team Leadership Academy (D.T.L.A), we believe leadership is built through knowledge, opportunity, and real-world experiences.

Last week, our scholars experienced Pulse, Process & The Press — a powerful series of workshops focused on life-saving skills, entrepreneurship, and hands-on learning.

❤️‍🩹 PULSE – A heartfelt thank you to Coach Womack for teaching our students the fundamentals of CPR and empowering them with the knowledge to potentially save a life. We are grateful for his continued dedication to investing in the next generation.

💡 PROCESS – Our scholars had the opportunity to learn about the entrepreneurial journey from local business owner Will Fulton, founder of The Jugo Bar (Thejugobar). Through his personal story, students learned that success isn’t determined by where you start, but by your willingness to work, persevere, and believe in yourself. His message was clear: YOU CAN DO IT!

🍓 THE PRESS – The learning continued with a hands-on experience creating fresh juices and smoothies at The Jugo Bar. Students explored different flavors, learned about the business behind the products, toured the facility, and enjoyed tasting the delicious creations. The entire team was phenomenal, welcoming our scholars and providing an unforgettable experience.

Days like these are what Dream Team is all about: exposing young people to new possibilities, building confidence, and equipping them with the tools to lead successful lives.

Thank you again to Coach Womack, Will Fulton, and The Jugo Bar team for helping us inspire future leaders.
