3399 had an eventful weekend. We went to Kiwanis Scout Camp and had a nice day of ice fishing. Many fish were caught. Scouts learned to clean fish at the Kiwanis cabin. Then they cooked and ate their catch MMM MMM Good!

The Scouts had a really good time

Why support a Scout by buying a Christmas Tree from us? A huge part of Scouting is fundraising. Our Troop does lots of work throughout the year.

Last summer, we got to do a trip of a lifetime. It may not have been high adventure like Philmont or Northern Tier or Sea Base, but summer camp itself is a trip of a lifetime. Last Summer, Troop 399 went to a new camp that we had never been to before. Camp Alexander in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. On our way there, we got to take in Church at a magnificent Cathedral, see a zoo and aquarium, view spectacular mountains, see Pikes Peak and visit Santa's Workshop.

Please enjoy the pictures and continue to support a kid going to summer camp. It can make a real impression in a young person's life.

Merry soon to be Christmas everyone. Winsted's Scouting America (aka Boy Scouts) are selling Christmas Trees again. We are at the corner of Andy Ave and County Road 1. We are open Saturday and Sunday 10-4 until the trees are gone.

We got White Pines, Balsam Firs, Canaan Firs and Frasier Firs. Wreaths too if you need one. This year, our trees have QR codes posted so you can pick up and pay for a tree if you can't make it on the weekends.

So swing on by, pick up a tree and help send some young men and young ladies to camp!

Service Projects - This is another big to do for Scouts. We have to do 3-6 hours of service to advance up a rank. Do a good turn daily is the Scout motto. Today, several of our Scouts did a good turn. It was Breakfast on the Farm today at the Diers farm. We helped out for a couple of hours. We were helping out by serving food and clearing tables. We also helped clean up the building at the end and tear down all the tables and chairs. It was a busy day for Troop 3399.

CoH - Court of Honor. This is where we give our Scouts their Merit Badges and Rank Advancement. We try to recognize our Scouts achievements as often as possible. We do have formal meetings where we honor our Scouts achievements too. After they earn their awards and merit badges and rank advancements, the scouts get their congratulations from the adult leaders.

Congratulations to all our Scouts who moved up in rank this weekend!

Our Troop attended our first campout of the summer. Camping is a big part of Scouts. Scouts usually have a Camporee in the Spring and Fall and there is always a week at a summer camp. We try to do a bunch. Occasionally, we even do a winter one.

This weekend, we played 4 square, practiced firearm safety, and learned how to safely handle knives and other blades (axes, hatchets, etc.) and cooked outside. We call it a Totin Chit. It was a pretty fun weekend for our Scouts.

Another Memorial Day has come. As a patriotic organization, Scouting America (aka Boys Scouts of America) would like to thank all the Veterans, past and present, for their service. Every family has or knows a family who had a member serve and sometimes pass away during service. Thank you to all the Veterans!

Many Scouts continue tradition of service to country as many have in the past.

Scouts have one particular thing that they share with maybe other extra curricular groups - FUNDRAISING! Our young men and young ladies got to do some fundraising. We would like to thank Mackenthun's in Waconia for the opportunity to bag groceries for tips to help our Scouts go to camp this summer. We are going to Camp Alexander in Colorado. This is the furthest camp that we have attended as a Troop. Needless to say, we have a lot of fuundraising to do yet.

Thank You again Mackenthuns! Our Scouts and parents appreciate your help!!!

Scouts do a lot for things for fun and physical fitness. During a recent outing, our Scouts rode bicycles down the Dakota Rail Regional Trail from Lester Prairie to Mayer and back again. The Scouts are also working on their Cycling Merit Badge. Basically, it's riding a bike climaxing in a 50 mile ride. It is a lot of riding, but they can do Hiking, Swimming or Cycling. Afterwards, the Scouts and parents got to enjoy some root beer floats. Yum!

Summer is here and our Troop is getting ready to go to summer camp. Another part of our summer is sending a Scout to Grey Wolf (National Youth Leadership Training) To prepare for this leadership training, we have a basic course at the Troop level called ILST (Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops). A Scoutmaster or a previous graduate of Grey Wolf teaches the class. Ellie is a previous Grey Wolf graduate and staff member. This year, our Senior Patrol Lead (SPL), Olivia, is going. If she impresses the Grey Wolf staff, she will be invited to staff and help teach. This helps reinforce training that Scouts have previously received. So Congratulations and Good Luck Olivia!!

What do Scouts do at their meetings? We do lots of different things. At our last meeting, most of our Troop earned the Cooking Merit Badge. To become an Eagle Scout, Scouts have to earn 21 merit badges. Cooking is one of 14 that all Scouts must earn to earn the rank of Eagle Scout. We cooked some pizzas in Dutch ovens over coals. While we were cooking the pizzas, Scoutmaster Jon rotated the coals for even cooking. The Scouts pursued another cornerstone of Scouting - Physical Fitness. Can you say TRAMPOLINE?

After we ate, we celebrated getting some patches from a recent camping trip. The Scouts learned about winter survival and camping at Northwinds at Stearns Scout Camp. We got our camp patches. Scouts love their bling!
