In the search for a map of Rt. 66, found this site exploring the rich history of the Harvey Houses (and this cool map).

The world’s largest single-loom Navajo Rug will soon be on permanent display at the Affeldt Mion Museum. The rug, commissioned by Lorenzo Hubbell Jr. in 1932 to promote his Winslow trading post and woven by Navajo artist Julia Joe, returned to Winslow after a fifty-year absence thanks to Allan Affeldt and Tina Mion. Displaying a rug of this size and importance has taken years of planning but is nearly complete. We had a productive WAT Board Meeting yesterday, and one of the topics on the agenda was the exhibition of the Hubbell Rug. John Suttman walked us through the rug exhibition space construction plans and Dan brought the crew out to unroll and inspect the Hubbell Rug in preparation for display. The Board participated in the discussion via a Zoom Meeting link.

Last year on May 4th, we introduced you to a local R2D2 on a mural in downtown Winslow: found in a mural painted on the east wall of BOJO’s restaurant.
This iconic R2-D2 is a small gem tucked inside a bigger mural painted by artist Yancy Katoney (commissioned by BOJO’s owners, John and Jeannie Jacobs).

He’s definitely worth a reshare!

What do you think the name of this art piece is? Congratulations to Winslow Arts Council on an awesome weekend!
