Dear community of Winslow,
The Winslow Pride committee would like to address our upcoming community events and clarify our stance regarding vendor participation. We have made the decision not to include vendors associated with a specific individual for our future events. While we understand this may raise questions, please know that this choice was made after careful consideration, keeping the best interest, safety, and harmony of our community event as our top priority
We would like to make it known that safety and inclusion is our mission for Winslow Pride. We have had multiple situations pop up this year regarding performer safety and harassment against them as well as issues with potential vendors and the safety of our community. We have every right to deny someone to be a part of our event in a professional stance due to how they treat others or how they may alter the safety of others.
We recently denied a performer from attending our show due to harassment against the trans community and other performes. We also recently denied a vendor from participating due to their association with a level 3 s3x offender. Winslow Pride does not want that kind of association and will not stand for it.
Our committee believes in standing up for people, welcoming all members of the LGBTQIAP+ community and our safe allies, believing victims, and protecting the vulnerable. Any actions we choose to take against involvement with an individual or individuals is a direct response to that mission.
So if you hear our name dragged, at least consider our side of the story.
We would like to make this letter public that we had to send out last night, so that others understand better where we're coming from. And know that we'd say the exact same thing to ANYONE who fits the bill.
"To Whom It May Concern,
I, Lamberto, am writing to personally inform you. As the Winslow Pride Committee, we are writing to formally communicate an official decision regarding our upcoming community picnic. After careful consideration and review of our event logistics, we have decided not to host vendors at Tomโs Tavern for this event.
Furthermore, it has been brought to our attention that an individual closely associated with a prospective participant is a registered s3x offender. The Winslow Pride Committee maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding any safety risks to our community. Given that our upcoming picnic is being held in a public park and is a family-oriented space, the safety, comfort, and well-being of our attendees, youth, and community members are our absolute highest priorities. To ensure a safe environment for everyone, the committee will not permit any involvement, association, or presence from individuals, businesses, or affiliates connected to this situation. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to keep our community events safe and welcoming for all.
Sincerely, The Winslow Pride Committee"
Our goal will always be to create a safe, positive, and joyful space for the entire community. We simply feel it is in the best interest of the event and its attendees to not have this particular individual involved moving forward. Thank you for your understanding, your continuous support, and for helping us keep our community events a positive space for all.
We made this decision as a committee, it was no single person's choice. Again, safety is our number one mission for the Q***r community and the children within our community who attend.
This is a place of celebration and we will not tolerate making anyone feel unsafe. Thank you for understanding.
