Our chapter's America250! Committee worked this summer with La Crescent High School's band director Erik Chapman to implement the concept of a patriotic marching band half time show and assist with the fundraising to produce it. Members of the chapter worked side by side with La Crescent band members at the Sons of the American Legion Breakfast fundraiser on July 26, and our chapter received an America250! Community Celebration grant. Last night at the La Crescent High School vs. Cotter football game, chapter members greeted guests at our DAR booth and handed out American flags to attendees. The first set of fireworks marked the end of our National Anthem. Then the half time show was one that can't be beat! Costumed reenactors of wars during US history were introduced, and then the talented La Crescent High School marching band entertained the audience with an exciting show performing patriotic songs including Battle Cry of Freedom, Stars and Stripes Forever, and Battle Hymn of the Republic, with formations of 250 and USA, accompanied by a beautiful and extensive fireworks display by a La Crosse organization. We thank Erik Chapman, the La Crescent H.S marching band, our chapter member from La Crescent who worked so closely with the band director on this historic event, the reenactors, the fireworks presenters, supporters, breakfast attendees, donors, and the large audience that attended and enjoyed the celebration of our nation's 250!

The first La Crescent Lancers HOME game is featuring a patriotic marching band half time show and fireworks Friday September 4th in La Crescent. It will be a great event come and watch the game and celebrate America 250 kickoff is 6:45 pm!

Lake Winona Manor Parade - 2026

Winona Health brought Steamboat Days directly to Lake Winona Manor residents Tuesday with a parade tradition nearly two decades in the running.

Last week Winona Health helped to make sure that their residents were able to enjoy some of Steamboat Days by holding a parade at their Lake Winona Manor facility. We passed out flags for everyone to wave. This parade is a wonderful annual tradition for the residents and we were so glad to be a part of it!
