WPC "Paddle to the Ball Game"
Tomorrow WPC will be traveling to La Crosse to catch a Loggers baseball game.
Launching at 6pm from Airport Beach on the Black River (on Fishermans Rd on east side of airport). Short but sweet paddle to Copeland park to catch the game at 7:05pm (or fashionably late if we want to paddle a bit more). General admission is $7. Party Deck is $25 (all you can eat and drink). RESPONSIBLE drinking will be allowed on the water and at the game. A sober driver will be provided to return us to Airport Beach. Anyone interested in carpooling to and from La Crosse should work it out by posting comments on this post. I have room for 2 more people and 2 more boats on my trailer. Will try to leave Winona NLT 5:15 (earlier if we can).

Hey y'all - the river has dropped and my kayak tour bookings are picking up. I got another tour tomorrow afternoon so I cannot facilitate a WPC Paddle. Chris Kramer mentioned he might be interested in joining up with La Crosse area group CCAKC for a Black River trip. Post here or message Chris if you are interested too.
this from the CCAKC page - "This week's paddle is Wednesday, 7/30 on the Black River. The starting landing is on River Road east of Melrose - from Melrose take Hogg Street east to Tower Road, proceed north a short distance, and then east on River Road. The take out will be the landing by the Hwy 108 bridge south of Melrose. The shuttle leaves at 5:30."

WANT TO PADDLE BUT DON'T HAVE A BOAT????
If anyone is interested in joining us but doesn't have a boat, or you have an interested friend who doesn't have a boat, send a message to WPC and I can likely provide one out of my Driftless Adventure Company fleet. Donations appreciated but NOT required! Maybe just a beer or burger after the paddle. I just want to get you out on the water to join us!
See you on the water!

Rush River Trip Report 4/6/14
Just over an hour away from Winona near Maiden Rock, WI.
Put-in at 385th St Bridge and took out at Hwy 35 just before Lake Pepin. 5.5 miles via canoe. Only one portage around logjam about 3/4 of the way into trip.
Otherwise great float with the spring run-off. Eagles, heron, lots of ducks and a peaceful little river valley. Can't ask for much more.

Finished the day with live music, burgers and couple of beers from Rush River Brewery at the Six String Saloon in Maiden Rock.
