Black Sheep Poetry We seek to expose people to the power of spoken word in an open environment and show the importance of standing up and sharing perspective with others.

Black Sheep Poetry is a community group founded on promoting the importance of spoken word, performance art, and voicing perspective. We are a collective of writers and performers from Minnesota and Wisconsin and host monthly spoken word events at Mid West Music Store in Winona, MN. We seek not just to perform, but to inspire as well. It is our goal to provide a comfortable platform and environmen

t for people to gather, read, and listen to the sounds of the world through others’ eyes. Based in a community with a thriving arts and entertainment scene, Black Sheep Poetry offers the public a form of art often overlooked and undervalued in the grand scheme of modern society. Our members have performed at Mid West Music Fest in Winona, MN, Artspire in La Crosse, WI, the Winona Poet Laureate series, Winona State University and other various spoken word events in the driftless region of Minnesota and Wisconsin.
