Attending, donating, and showing support for our biggest fundraiser of the year directly helps the animals in our care like the neonatal kittens we shared yesterday (still seeking a foster placement!), and the next ones waiting in line. Contribute bidding items if you're able, and get your tickets to join us on the 6th! Your assistance provides a safe place for the most vulnerable pets to land.

Seeking a special bottle baby foster home! 🐈

These three itty bitty kittens need someone to be their hero. They arrived after the tragic death of their mom, and their survival depends on round-the-clock care that a bottle baby foster home provides. This includes feeding every two to three hours, helping them go to the bathroom, and monitoring their progress.

What makes their placement a bit more challenging is that they were just confirmed to have ringworm, a fungal infection of the skin. With kittens this young, treatment options are limited to medicated baths until they’re old enough to receive liquid medication.

The type of foster we seek is someone with a spare bathroom or bedroom where these littles could remain fully separated, or someone without pets. While ringworm is contagious, it is easily manageable with a proper setup and regular cleaning.

We know this is a big ask and a more significant commitment than the usual fostering experience…but there are three little ones depending on us to try and find that very special someone.

Taking in this group will be like a full-time job for a few weeks – but you’ll have tiny cheerleaders encouraging you the whole way. Fostering supplies, veterinary care, and medical treatments are all provided by WAHS.

If you’re open to a conversation about what this lifesaving challenge entails, please give us a call at 507-452-3135 during open hours, email [email protected], or fill out the foster form on winonahumane.org/fostering. Kitten Lady is an expert in the field and has great information on kittenlady.org/ringworm.

From all of us and the neonatal kittens whose lives will be forever changed by a few weeks of dedication – thank you for your consideration.

If you can’t foster, please share to spread the word!

Willa and Sylva are the last Ridglan beagles available for adoption! From the time they arrived a special bond existed between the two, and because of how much they rely on each other, they must find an adopter willing to welcome them home together.

No matter where they are or what they’re doing, Willa and Sylva are constantly checking in with each other. Every day they’re close by – playing together, sharing a snooze, or simply existing in their comforting companionship.

Willa is the more people-forward of the two, leading the way when new friends come to visit and parking herself front and center for chin scratches 😌 She takes on the role of Sylva’s protector, keeping an eye on her and being her source of reassurance.

Sylva brings the energy to the party 💃🏽 She’s all about running laps, ‘sitting pretty,’ and exploring new places, but she always circles back to check in with Willa – and she’ll often greet new people only if Willa approaches first.

While they enjoy the company of other active dogs too, they really match each other’s energy the best and would thrive as the only two dogs in the home. Cats are a maybe, depending on a careful, monitored introduction.

Willa and Sylva came from an environment with limited exposure to normal dog life, and welcoming them home will be a rewarding, time-intensive, gradual, hardworking experience. We encourage thoughtful self-reflection and honesty about your lifestyle, time availability, home setting, financial flexibility, and commitment to this unique experience.

If you’ve considered the factors above, review their shared bio on winonahumane.org/adopt for more info and fill out an application to express your interest. Potential matches will be contacted to schedule a visit with these two special girls 💞

Update 5:50pm: the litterboxes, a few pet bowls, and masks for people remain available. Everything else has been picked up. Thank you everyone for the great response!

Free supplies that all need new homes! They’re available in our front lot for pickup; this post will be updated once they’re gone. The pet furniture items have been used in shelter but they’re still in good condition — we’re simply working to clear up storage space. While donations are always appreciated, we really just want them to get to families who can use them 🐾
