Catching up with Bright City Church in Sunbury, Ohio, where it’s been a busy summer!

They recently held a baptism service, and their annual Super Saturday event brought out 67 kids! Add to that attending youth and kids summer camps, leader retreats, participating in a community worship service, volunteering in the community and welcoming a new Director of Kids & Families – there is so much to celebrate.

Such a fun full-circle moment! We co-hosted breakfast with the Eagle Commission during the Charis conference at GraceFTC, a Grace Fellowship Pickerington community space we had the privilege of financing.

We have always been big supporters of church planting. In 1983, Grace Financial and Grace Brethren Home Missions helped the young Altavista Grace Brethren Church purchase their first building in Virginia.

After some time waiting and meeting in a carport, God provided an opportunity for them to meet in the building for free during the year leading up to their purchase – a major step forward.

The Brethren Missionary Herald reported in 1984 that “first came the building, then along came special, capable leaders,” which kickstarted their Sunday school and worship ministries.

We’re cheering on Bear Creek Community Church in Southeast Collin County, TX, as they celebrate many “firsts” as a new church:

🔹 Sunday, July 19: Six people professed their faith during their first baptism service!

🔹 July 2: Bear Creek joined the City of Lavon’s Independence Day celebration by hosting a booth with a craft area for kids to decorate their own flags.

🔹 Looking Ahead: The new church is preparing to hold its first service at its new home, Community Trails Middle School, on August 9, followed by the official launch on September 13.

Pastor Rob Rojas says the Oasis Community Church plant in Philadelphia is truly becoming a family. Its community has been growing through ongoing discipleship opportunities like Bible studies, children’s ministry, and men’s, women’s, and youth gatherings. The young church has also celebrated some exciting firsts: the first wedding held at Oasis, their first children’s church service, and the launch of their website.

Please join us in praying as they host their second Vacation Bible School this summer and move toward their official launch.
