The WCC Grant Committee awarded $207,500 in grants to 27 agencies in December 2025. Funding for the grants came from the net proceeds of WCC Rummage sales and the Chicago Community Trust endowment.

Our 2025 Grant Awardee Friday Feature is the Austin Scholars Award Program. Winnetka Congregational Church is grateful to have a partner like Austin Scholars Award Program to work together and serve the community.

The Austin Scholars Award Program (ASAP) is a committee of Third Unitarian Church. Since 1974, the Austin Scholars Program has awarded over 425 college scholarships to outstanding CPS high school seniors in the Austin community.

Austin Scholars Award Program had its 52nd Annual Scholars Sunday on May 17 with 24 CPS seniors (incl. charter schools) seeking higher education! Their guest speakers were U.S. Rep. Danny Davis (retiring after 30 years) and Class of 2017 Alum Katie Stanley, Howard graduate now in dual-master's of social work and public health at UIC.
