✨ What a year! ✨

On May 30, our members and guests gathered to celebrate an impactful 2025–2026 League Year filled with service, friendship, and community engagement.

From our Leadership Board Retreat and the 85th Anniversary of our Thrift House store in Evanston to the launch of Mah Jongg Mondays, we created meaningful opportunities to connect, engage, and grow together.

This year, we proudly awarded $50,000 in Community Grants and $20,000 in Scholarships while partnering with outstanding organizations including Arden Shore Child and Family Services, Bernie's Book Bank, Children's Advocacy Center of North and Northwest Cook County, Chute Middle School, Connections for the Homeless, Evanston Animal Shelter, Evanston GROWS, Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, Will's Place Skokie, and WINGS Program, Inc.

It was truly a meaningful year of service, growth, and impact.

🏆 Congratulations to our 2025–2026 Annual Award Winners:

• Community Volunteer of the Year: Will's Place
• Sustainer of the Year: Linda Weber
• Founder's Award: Lyn Aleshire

A big thank you to our outgoing President, Karen Burchell, for her exceptional leadership, dedication, and service. Your passion and commitment have left a lasting impact on our League.

Our 2025–2026 New Member Class was proud to present a $5,000 donation to The Children's Advocacy Center of North and Northwest Cook County (CAC), raised through our 2026 Trivia Night fundraiser. These funds helped transform the waiting room at CAC’s Skokie office with new furniture, toys, books, rugs, child-friendly artwork, storage cabinets, and shelving.

In addition to fundraising, New and Active Members volunteered their time to assemble furniture, organize toys and supplies, and install artwork, helping bring the refreshed space to life.

CAC’s mission is to empower children to overcome trauma from physical & sexual violence through empathetic collaboration & culturally sensitive services for the victims and their families.

The Junior League of Evanston-North Shore is proud to partner with local nonprofits such as CAC, and we look forward to continuing this meaningful partnership.

Thank you to our members and their families for volunteering at Bernie's Book Bank earlier this month to sort, label, and bag books that will be distributed to children across the Chicagoland area.

Through their service, they supported Bernie’s Book Bank's mission to transform children’s lives through book ownership by sourcing, processing, and distributing free high-quality books to children who need them most.

Earlier this month, members of the Junior League of Evanston-North Shore volunteered as Guest Baristas at Will's Place Skokie.

Will’s Place, a 2025 JLE-NS Grant recipient, is a nonprofit cafe dedicated to creating meaningful employment opportunities for adults with disabilities. We were honored to spend the day supporting their mission, connecting with the community, and getting to know the staff.

Thank you to the team at Will’s Place for welcoming us!

✨ Our 2025–2026 President, Karen Burchell, represented The Junior League of Evanston-North Shore at The Junior League's Annual Conference in Indianapolis.

The weekend brought together members from Leagues around the world for leadership development, collaboration, and conversations focused on the future of the organization, while also celebrating The Junior League’s 125th anniversary! 🎉

Our League was also recognized for going above and beyond in the Association-wide Thrive 125 Initiative during a special breakfast.

The conference included a celebration honoring Outgoing Presidents, where Karen had the opportunity to meet Alice Glenn, AJLI’s 2024–2026 President, and receive a special keepsake commemorating her term as President.

We are grateful for Karen’s leadership and look forward to putting these new ideas and perspectives into action as we continue to make a lasting impact in our community! ✨

We were so happy to deliver the hygiene kits packed during one of our General Membership Meetings to Chute Middle School in Evanston! 💙

These 200 kits were thoughtfully assembled with everyday essentials such as deodorant, lotion, toothbrushes, socks, brushes and more, along with uplifting handwritten notes to brighten each student’s day. The kits will support both girls and boys, helping them feel confident, prepared, and cared for at school.

Thank you to all of our members who helped make this project possible. We’re proud of the impact we can make together!
