Wōrak Horak Youth Spotlight: Marlin

We are welcoming our first youth cohort with a focus in graphic design. Marlin is the son of Abigail Lonewolf and Marlin Mousseau II, and grandparents are Robbie Lonewolf, Sheri Mousseau and Marlin Mousseau.

Currently he is a student at Little Priest Tribal College and studying Computer Science.

With regard to Media, he shared "I enjoy the freedom of creativity, how people can express themselves and highlight what they want for the audience."

Marlin's role within the WHYO is creating designs for merchandise, bringing to life the message of WHYO on shirts and other articles of clothing for the youth and adults.

His favorite film is "The Crow", starring Brandon Lee. "The entire soundtrack is perfect, the style such as the scenery, clothing, and color of the film is 10/10. It is dark and moody, also incredibly rewatchable." Mousseau shared.

If he could describe himself as a movie character he said "Kip Cromwell of Charlie Bartlett, very quiet, reserved but also observant. + style"

Check out these photos from the Apprenticeship Achievement Ceremony back in May! The ceremony was considered our Community Showcase event for our Native Youth Media Project in collaboration with Vision Maker Media

We are so grateful to take part in the program for the Winter/Spring & Summer/Winter semesters for Winnebago Public School. Thank you so much to the team at HCI for hosting this awesome event.

It means so much to us that we are the only youth media program available in the tristate area.

We would like to welcome Savannah Berlyn Photo & Design as one of our youth mentors for the 2026 Summer Youth Film Camp!

She brings a plateau of experience in different media area's such as; photography, graphic design, videography, & has worked with elders in many projects.

Savannah will be working with our youth cohort weekly, and will be hosting a lighting & photography workshop this month. Youth will learn how to set up studio headshots for business or artist headshots.

Photography career's are prevalent within the film industry; they are needed for marketing materials for movies and even actor headshots.

FUN FACTS:
- One of my favorite movies is World War Z because of the urgency and problem-solving throughout the story. I enjoy watching the main character connect the pieces, identify the root of the problem, and work toward a solution.

- If I were a character from any film, I'd describe myself as Tony Stark. Not because I'm a superhero, but because I'm creative, independent, and always working on new ideas and projects.

🏳️‍🌈 Happy Pride Month! 🏳️‍⚧️

This Pride Month, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and beauty of our Two-Spirit, LGBTQIA+, and gender-diverse relatives. In collaboration with Winnebago Two-Spirit and Little Priest Tribal College, we invite the community to come together for a free screening of Being Thunder on June 16 and celebrate the stories, experiences, and voices of Indigenous Two-Spirit and LGBTQ+ people.

Today was the first day of our 2026 Summer Youth Film Camp and we re-capped last year's lessons on Native stereotypes in early years of Hollywood, and how we can implement Native values in filmmaking projects.

Our youth cohort practiced writing film logline's and creative brainstorming.

We are super grateful for the Winnebago/LPTC public library for opening their doors for our Filmmaking & Media workshops!
