An Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus,
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Prayer for the Canonization of Nicholas Black Elk

“Grandfather!” Great Spirit!
Behold us, who stand before you, singing our song of thanksgiving for your beloved servant, Nicholas Black Elk.
Faithfully he walked the Sacred Red Road and generously witnessed the Good News of our Lord, Jesus Christ among Native people.
Grandfather, we humbly ask you to hear the prayers we plead through his intercession.
We ask Holy Mother Church to recognize his sanctity, by acknowledging his presence among the company of the saints and as one to imitate in his zeal for the Gospel.
Open our hearts to also recognize the Risen Christ in other cultures and peoples, to the glory and honor of God the Father. Amen

Today, we celebrate two very special milestones at St. Augustine Indian Mission School!

Congratulations to our 8th-grade graduates as they prepare to begin a new chapter in high school. We are proud of all you have accomplished and know you will continue to do great things.
We also celebrate our kindergarten students as they take the exciting step into first grade! Their smiles, energy, and enthusiasm brighten our school each day.

May God continue to guide and bless each of our students as they grow in faith, knowledge, and confidence. We are so proud of you all!

The weather was perfect, and our campus was the perfect place for today’s Field and Fun Day at St. Augustine Indian Mission School!

Students spent the day enjoying kickball, giant Jenga, Connect Four, jump rope, hula-hoops, obstacle courses, parachute games, and colorful chalk art. There was plenty of laughter, teamwork, and fun all across campus.

We are grateful for the teachers, staff, and volunteers who helped make the day so special for our students. What a beautiful day to celebrate friendship, play, and the joy of being together!

Yesterday, our students gathered for a beautiful May Crowning ceremony to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary. Surrounded by classmates, faculty, and prayers, we were reminded of Mary’s loving example of faith, humility, and trust in God.

The tradition of crowning Mary in May is a special reminder to place our hearts close to hers and to ask her for her prayers for our school, families, and community. Thank you to everyone who helped make the celebration so meaningful for our students.

Yesterday, our middle-grade students laced up their running shoes and took on the mile! We are proud of the determination, perseverance, and encouragement they showed one another from start to finish.

Whether they crossed the finish line first or simply kept going when it got tough, every student accomplished something to celebrate. Great job, students!

Our students filled the church with music at this year’s Spring Concert. From recorders and ukuleles to guitars and voices, their hard work and confidence were on full display.

We are especially grateful for our partnership with the Omaha Conservatory of Music and for Cody Jorgensen, who travels to Winnebago each week to share his time and talent with our students. His energy, patience, and love for music make a lasting impact in our classrooms.

Thank you, Cody, for helping our students find their voices and their joy in music.
