Honored to receive a proclamation from the City of Winfield recognizing June as Roadway Safety Month during the “100 Deadliest Days of Summer.”

Roadway crashes are preventable, and it’s encouraging to see local communities recognizing the importance of education, awareness, and proactive safety efforts surrounding impaired driving, distracted driving, and teen driver safety.

79 Safe is pairing with Lincoln County Ambulance District to help bring First Impact to Lincoln County.

Today, Friday, April 24th, Winfield High School will be doing their annual pre-prom DUI reenactment. You will see emergency vehicles at the nearby church and at the school in the morning as part of this. There is no need for alarm as this is part of demonstrating to students the possible impact of DUI.

Recently, 79 Safe participated in a Highway 79 Safety Study visioning session, bringing together local agencies and partners to discuss key concerns, patterns, and opportunities along the corridor.

This kind of behind-the-scenes work helps identify both infrastructure needs and driver behavior trends that impact safety in our community.

The study is currently underway, with completion expected this year and findings anticipated to be published by the end of 2026.

An encore First Impact session is now in the works for:

🚦 We’re looking for Traffic Garden hosts!

79 Safe is expanding hands-on roadway safety education in Lincoln County, and we’re looking for community partners interested in hosting a Traffic Garden event.

Traffic Gardens are a fun, interactive way for kids to learn real-world traffic safety skills while riding bikes, scooters, or walking through a miniature roadway setup with signs, intersections, and crosswalks.

They’re a great fit for:
• Schools
• Churches
• Daycares
• Youth camps
• Community events
• Parks departments

These can be hosted as a one-day event or a longer installation, and program support is available so there is no cost to the host organization.

If your organization is interested in bringing a Traffic Garden to your community, we’d love to connect.
