I am a 14 year old member of Cowley County 4-H, a local non-profit youth organization. As my 4-H Junior Leaders project, I’m diligently working to develop an off-leash dog park in Winfield. The park will be located at Black Creek Park west of the skate park. An off-leash dog park is a public park, typically fenced, where people and their dogs can play together. As the name implies,
this park offers dogs off-leash play areas where dogs and owners can enjoy a park-like setting and the chance to socialize with other canines and their owners. Dog parks are being established all over the country and offer a wealth of benefits to dogs, dog owners and the community as a whole. Off-leash dog parks are more than just a place for dogs to run and roam. They offer the following benefits: opportunities for dogs to exercise and socialize safely, promotes responsible dog ownership, provides an outlet for dog owners to socialize and makes for a better community by promoting public health and safety. To develop an off-leash dog park in Winfield I’m seeking to raise funds. A fully developed site includes a fenced off-leash dog area, water fountains, and off-street parking.
