Week 2, Fall 2026
πŸžπŸ¦‹πŸ

We had an amazing and educational visit from the Hoosier Bee Man in the afternoon where the kids (and parents!) learned about beekeeping and all of the hard work that goes into working with these necessary pollinators.

Due to his visit, we designated our first spirit wear day as "dress as a bug" day and/or people wore bug shirts. There were so many butterflies, ladybugs, and bees around co-op today!

From our very youngest children in the nursery to our oldest group of kids, every age is learning new skills weekly. We saw sharing, kindness, helpfulness, understanding, and compassion for others. We observed kids caring for their friends and their environment. We witnessed learning that only comes from small classes, so that teachers and assistants are able to truly give attention to each kid.

We have an amazing group of kids who work together, try new foods together, help each other out, and still have plenty of opportunities to socialize!

Week 1, Fall 2026

We have offically started our Fall semester after orientation last week, and it was simply an amazing day! We did our best this semester to reduce our class sizes in order to provide more attention and better our ability to respond to the needs of our students. This required us to offer more classes and for more parents to teach. They agreed and off we went! So what are the kids learning about this semester? In no particular order:

🧁 Bite-Sized Baking introduces our youngest kiddos to baking in small sizes, perfect for tiny hands!

🐞 Backyard Buddies explores local insects, touching on life cycles, cool facts, and crafts.

🩰 Dance allows two of our age groups to learn about ballet and modern styles, while also celebrating the freedom of movement.

🦁 Zoology gives two groups of our youngest students an opportunity to learn about different animals each week.

⏰️ Inventors and Inventions allows the kids to deep dive into interesting and groundbreaking inventions that impact their lives today.

🐠 Marine Biology explores the oceans and its animals, giving students the chance to build on concepts in particular subject of science.

πŸ”¬ Forensic Science challenges our oldest students to solve mysteries by analyzing fingerprints, hair samples and more.

🏺Pottery and Clay Creations allows students to express themselves with a hands-on art class, one where creativity reigns.

πŸ”§ Small Engines gives our older students real world experience in learning about the parts of an engine, taking it apart and putting it back together.

🎨 Art Explorers introduces our youngest students to important art concepts.

πŸ— LEGO Science creates an opportunity for students to use one of their favorite toys to learn about cool science ideas.

πŸŒ‹Sensory Science is for our youngest students to get messy and learn at the same time.

πŸ–Ό Arts and Crafts pushes students to explore types of art that they may not have yet experienced.

πŸ“– Magic Treehouse History introduces students to different eras of history through books, as well as related activities.

🍳 Breakfast Buddies is a cooking class for our oldest students, a place to hopefully garner some independence in the kitchen.

πŸ—‘ History Meets Duct Tape explores medieval history, the path to knighthood, and the creation of various types of weapons with cardboard and duct tape.

πŸͺ‘ Punch Art is a hands-on, self-guided class where students learn how to create pictures with fabric and yarn.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³ Junior Chefs Snack Club introduces kids to easy to make recipes, perfect for beginner cooks.

πŸ‘·β€β™€οΈ Let's Build gives students the opportunity to build different structures and test out physics concepts.

πŸ¦– Junior Paleontologists explores the eras of dinosaurs, learning about fossils and other concepts along the way.

πŸ‡πŸ‡³ Countries and Cultures gives students the chance to learn about different countries, try new foods, do crafts, and play games.

🧡The Sewing Circle is the perfect class for those interested in starting their journey to learn how to sew.

⛺️ Survival Skills challenges our oldest students to participate in different survival activities each week.

πŸ”€ Preschool/Pre-K is the foundation of our amazing co-op, providing a space for our 3-4 year olds to learn, play, socialize, explore, and be introduced to a teacher who is not their parent.

We have a whopping 27 classes this semester! And it would not be possible without absolute dedication from our parents. We also run a nursery for our babies and toddlers. There is so much hard work that is put into making a co-op day run smoothly. Being a true collaborative co-op has really ensured that our focus remains where it should... on the kids!!

Let's go!!! Off to the races this semester for a beautiful journey together as we learn and grow!

We had a summer filled with moving, organizing, rearranging, downsizing, and just a lot of work to make sure our new location was ready for 70 kids. πŸ₯°

Today we started our semester with orientation... always lots of chaos, always lots of fun, always tiring! Parents got briefed on boring adult stuff, and kids were introduced to their classes with fun activities. We ended the day with ice cream, lots of sweat, some unfortunate bee stings, but ready to do it all over again next week... just maybe with a little more calmness and no more bees.

Last week, we headed to Purdue Calumet- Challenger Center to participate in their STEM field trip! The kids built different kinds of towers, LEGO challenges, built a robot, and watched a laser show in the planetarium. We love that we can support this amazing place and that they accommodate the homeschooling community by offering field trips for a wide variety of ages!

We have a few more adventures next week and then we start thinking about the fall semester, beginning with our amazing kick off party!
