Hello friends!

This is a good news/bad news post.

The bad news is that high prices are creating more food insecurity right here in Winfield, and that means that we are serving near-record numbers at the Pantry. Just today, we served 29 families, and our shelves are getting pretty depleted.

The good news is that today is restocking day -- and our crew is working hard to help feed our neighbors. You can help, too -- especially now. All donations that come through The Great Give campaign at Legacy Regional Community Foundation in August will bring additional matching funds to help the Pantry and other area non-profits. If you have donated to the Pantry through the Great Give, THANK YOU! If you haven't yet, please consider making a donation by the end of the month -- it needs to be received by August 31st. We can really use your help right now.

Mail: Mail your check to Legacy, PO Box 713, Winfield, KS 67156
Drop-off: Take your donation to Legacy offices located at 1216 Main in Winfield (mail is not delivered at this address due to post office procedures)

Today we are thankful for Astor and Tabitha of Family Tree Meats here in Winfield. Our meat supplies have been dwindling this summer with the increased demand, and we are happy that we can partner with a local business to get our neighbors good food!

We will be picking up our last 100 dozen eggs tomorrow for our clients, so once that batch and last Friday's is done, it's done! We appreciate everyone saving egg cartons for us, but that is no longer necessary! Special thanks to Pastor Lisa Buffum and her crew at Tisdale Church for making thousands of eggs available to non-profits around our area!

ANOTHER 100 dozen eggs in the Eggmobile, and waiting for clients next week at the pantry. Remember, if you have any empty cartons, we'd be glad to take them and pass them along!

Just a reminder that if you or your organization want to make a donation specifically for our Women's Period Project, (or if you committed last year and it slipped your mind), it would be greatly appreciated. This program, funded generously by Power of the Purse and Legacy Regional Community Foundation, enables us to receive either actual period products or a voucher redeemable at a local store to buy those of the client's choosing!
