Isle of Wight Ruritan Club

Isle of Wight Ruritan Club We meet the 2nd Wednesday of every month at the Isle of Wight Ruritan Building directly across the road from the new Courthouse building. Come join us!!

We donate food and toys to needy families, we have the Adopt-A-Highway for Bowling Green Road (between Bob White Road & Orbit Road), we look after several blue bird and wood duck boxes in the swamps around the Orbit area, we collect coupons for the military, we raise money for families when they have medical issues, we donate money to several scholarships at Smithfield High, Windsor High, and Isle

of Wight Academy, we donate the use of our building to many County services for meetings, we run a Red Cross Blood Drive, and this is a description of just a few of our projects. If you would like to make a donation, you may do so here:

We are saddened to lose a loyal Ruritan member. Bob has been a Ruritan Member for 40 years. He dedicated his life to helping others and his community. He was a very kind man that was always eager to help.

Bob's memorial will be on Friday, May 15th at 11:00 am at Smithfield Baptist Church. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall at the church. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm at Woodland UMC in Windsor that afternoon.

Please keep Bob's family in your prayers for comfort in the memories they shared and knowing how many lives he touched.

A Few Updates:

Please join us for our May Member & Friends Meeting. We sent the SignUp Genius invitation.

We have sent notifications to our 6 Scholarship recipients. We had a really great selection of applicants this year. It is one of the toughest decisions for the scholarship committee. All of our applicants were more than qualified and we really wish we could give everyone of them a scholarship. We have some incredible students in our community moving to the next level in their education. We will have the Scholarship presentation for our 6 Scholarship Recipients at the May meeting.

We will also be accepting donations for Military Troop Boxes to send for the Holidays. Please bring in any of the donations for the following months. You can bring them all in at once or each month.

July- Stick of deodorant
August- Black socks/ hand warmers
September- Hard Candy/ Gun/ Jellos/ Puddings
October- Snacks / Nabs/ Jerky/ Small Pack of Cookies
November- Boxes will be put together and mailed.
Members will fill out a Christmas Card to put in the boxes .

Pickup Time: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Quantities will be limited, as we will only be making four pots. Orders will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to place yours early to guarantee availability.
