KIWANIS MEETING
Wednesday evening, Jamie Laskie from Guild Mortgage spoke to a room full of Kiwanians about the real estate landscape, several of whom were old enough to remember when buying your first house required only eight potatoes, a chicken, and a firm handshake.

As if that weren’t enough, Jamie also founded a women’s networking group called NOCO Boss Babes. It started small and somehow grew to 4,000 members, which is roughly 3,999 more people than most of us could organize for a Kiwanis meeting. The group connects and supports women entrepreneurs and professionals throughout Northern Colorado, proving that Emily’s networking skills extend well beyond helping people decipher mortgage documents.

Thanks to Jamie and we hope to see you at our next meeting on July 15th at 5pm at the library in Windsor.

KIWANIS PARKS BIKES AT CONCERT
A reminder that Kiwanis will once again provide FREE bike valet service during the Thursday concerts.
We do ask for a DONATION to Key Clubs of Windsor and Severance High School.
We will not sell your fancy electric bike for parts.

As you can see from the photo, our volunteer staff is highly trained. What you cannot see is while getting up from that pose, it took approximately 25 minutes, several shouts of encouragement, and many assumed they were witnessing an amateur interpretive dance performance entitled “A Brief History of Bicycle Accidents.” Critics described it as “confusing, but realistic.”

Come by and leave your bike with us!

GREAT KIWANIS MEETING
Kiwanis had a momentous meeting Wednesday evening.
Our featured speaker was Chester from the Severance Key Club, who talked about his duties as Lt. Governor of the Rocky Mountain District of Key Clubs. For those unfamiliar, Key Club is basically the high school version of Kiwanis, except with more flexibility, more energy, and fewer prescription medications. In fact, KEY stands for Kiwanis Educating Youth, which is much better than my original guess, "Kids Endlessly Yelling."
Chester is planning to attend the National Convention in Dallas later this year. Based on his poise, leadership skills, and ability to speak, there is a very good chance he will someday become the leader of something really important like possibly fixing Northern Colorado traffic.
We also enjoyed an extremely informative presentation from Kathleen Baumgardner of ChildSafe, an outstanding organization dedicated to helping at-risk children. You can learn more at www.childsafecolorado.org. Unfortunately, we did not have time to ask Kathleen the important question of whether "Kathleen" should be spelled with a K or a C. Maybe next time.
Meanwhile, plans for our Casino Night fundraiser in October are heating up. Which is exciting, because unlike real casinos, our event is designed so that when you lose money, it actually goes to a good cause.

FREE BIKE PARKING AT CONCERTS!

Once again, beginning Thursday night, your friendly neighborhood Kiwanis Club will provide free bike parking at the concerts. That’s right: while you enjoy the music and consume five figure calorie food-truck cuisine to the point of needing serious medical intervention, we will lovingly babysit your bicycle.

We do ask for donations, with all proceeds supporting the Key Clubs at Windsor and Severance High Schools.

“What is Key Club?” you ask.

Key Club is basically the high school version of Kiwanis, except the members have functioning knees, understand technology, and are generally smarter and better-looking than an average Kiwanian. They are also the future leaders of America-thank goodness.

So ride your bike, enjoy the concert, eat responsibly (or don’t), and stop by the bike parking area.

We’ll see you at the concerts.

The Aktion Club in Greeley recently cleaned up the site of the memorial for the tragic train vs. school bus tragedy that killed 20 children near Greeley in 1961.
Aktion is a Kiwanis related club that has members with disabilities.
Windsor Kiwanis member, Mike Figal, regularly supports this club by attending their meetings and activities.
Further reading about the accident is attached.

KIWANIS AT THE LIBRARY
(Yes, we are that smart)

If it’s Wednesday, it must be a Kiwanis meeting. But this time we were in a brand new location. That’s right — we now meet in the big library meeting room and nobody shushed us.

We may not know how to use a card catalog or locate a book with the Dewey Decimal System, but we DO know how to have a good time, especially when Oreo snacks are involved.

Everyone received the lowdown on our upcoming Casino Night, which should be a great event once we locate several more volunteers and possibly trained circus personnel. (Seriously, we need more help with this.)

We also learned about financial literacy from JoAnn Linnebur and Dan Carey, proving that money is much more complicated than simply checking your wallet and saying, “Well, this is disappointing.”

Last but not least, the bylaws were updated, generating the same excitement level as watching intermittent windshield wipers during a light mist in Western Nebraska.

Come join us next meeting. It’s more fun than a dental cleaning. You ban find dental hygiene at 617.601 DDS.

WINDSOR KIWANIS KEEPS GROWING
Don’t be left behind while Kiwanis keeps getting bigger, better, and increasingly difficult to spell. We’re doing great things for kids and the community, and we need more members like you to help get ’er done.

Our newest member is Taylor Bryner, who joined Kiwanis because he genuinely cares about helping kids, which is exactly the kind of suspiciously wholesome behavior we encourage. Taylor also serves on the board of ChildSafe, proving he is a person who voluntarily attends meetings especially if there are snacks.

Professionally, Taylor is a business broker. This means if you want to buy or sell anything from a lemonade stand to a multimillion-dollar enterprise, Taylor can help. Frankly, if your child’s lemonade stand starts clearing six figures, you may need Taylor immediately and possibly a tax accountant.

Better yet, join Kiwanis and you’ll get to see Taylor all the time, which is far more convenient than trying to track him down through classified ads or wandering around asking strangers, “Do you know the business broker guy who likes helping kids?”
(Taylor to the left with Kiwanis President Mike Figal and Governor Elect Andrea Weule.)
