Richard Nickerson Scholarship Concert The Richard Nickerson Scholarship Fund was started in the spring of 1997 by parents of Windham Chamber Singers.

Each year, the scholarship is awarded to a Windham High School senior planning to include choral music as a part of their college experience.

This concert directly supports the Richard Nickerson Scholarship, awarded each year to a Windham High School senior who plans to include choral singing as part of their college experience.

Here’s a simple way to help:
In honor of our 28th Scholarship Concert, if 28 people donate $35, we fully fund one scholarship for a graduating senior.

Jonny is so excited to be performing in RNS this year! A educator at Oxford Hills Middle School and a 2011 graduate of Windham High School. He is also a proud Windham Chamber SIngers alumni. You can see Jonny onstage in various community theatre productions. Huge shoutout to his wife, Rachel, and his four cats.

🎶 Meet the Performers: Angela Pillsbury 🎶

A 2001 recipient of the Richard Nickerson Scholarship, Angela honed her musical talents with the Windham Chamber SIngers, and studied with vocal coaches Lud Hallman, David Goulet, and Ellen Chickering. Angela earned her degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Music from the University of Maine in Orono. In her professional life, Angela serves as an Assistant Vice President in Technology. Her dedication to the arts is reflected in her three years as a Vice President of the South Carolina Philharmonic Board. Angela remains a passionate believer in the transformative power of the arts, both on and off the stage.

🎶 Meet the Performers: Ellie Joseph 🎶

Ellie Joseph is a 2021 Musical Theatre graduate from Marymount Manhattan College, currently teaching Vocal, Dance, and Theatre Arts at Biddeford High School. She was a 2017 graduate of Windham High School, a 4 year member of the Windham Chamber Singers and served as the Assistant Conductor her senior year. The Performing Arts program served as a large part of her life in Windham and she is always overjoyed to return to the stage that helped her grow. When not performing, Ellie can be found hanging out with her two cats, Pumpkin and Jinx, reading countless fantasy/horror novels, and teaching our future generation of performers in the Twin City area of Southern Maine!

Anna is an ICU RN at Maine Medical Center and a proud alumni of Windham Chamber SIngers. She was most recently seen as Margot in Portland Player's production of Legally Blonde. She wants to thank her family and friends for all of the love and support, but most of all the committee and Richard Nickerson for continuing to support students in the arts.

🎶 Meet the Performers: Christy Comeau-Pierce 🎶

Christy Comeau-Pierce, class of ‘88, was one of Rick’s very first students at Windham High School. Christy went on to University of Maine, Orono, where she earned her BA in Music. The recipient of numerous awards in singing, Christy performs often in solo recital, has appeared as the featured soloist with The Bangor and Portland Symphony Orchestras, ChoralArt, and Voices in Harmony. She has performed with Opera Maine and sang backup for Josh Groban. Christy is delighted to be singing with Rick once again as a member of The Maine Music Society.

🎶 Meet the Performers: Rachel Scala 🎶

Rachel is a 2011 graduate of Windham High School, four-year member of Concert Band and Choir, and Windham Chamber Singer. Rachel attended the University of Maine, receiving degrees in Choral Music Education and Vocal Performance. While there, she served as Assistant Conductor of the University of Maine Singers and studied conducting under Dr. Dennis Cox, Dr. Louis Hall, and Francis Vogt. Rachel recently studied at The University of Southern Maine as a Master of Music candidate in the Vocal Pedagogy program. While at USM, she has studied voice with WHS alum, Dr. Elisabeth Marshall—and mostly recently—Dr. Malinda Haslett. Rachel is a music educator in the Oxford Hills School District and an active member of the Maine Music Educators Association; she attributes her dedication this career to the music educators she had growing up in the RSU14 school system. Rachel remains active in the choral and performing arts, singing with Maine Music Society and directing/directing for several theatres throughout Central and Southern Maine.

Jean is a WHS 2004 graduate and WCS alumni. Since graduating whs she has earned a bachelor’s degree in criminology from The university of southern Maine and then enlisted in army as a correctional and detention specialist her favorite duty station was camp humphreys in South Korea. Since she has 3 kids now, Phyllis, Malcolm, and Sìne. She enjoys hiking and reading.

Cosmic is an originals rock band with acoustic moments and a few killer covers. Cosmic released their first album, Site of Connection, in 2019 followed by the EP Enemy in 2024 and the EP Stars in 2025. The bandmates write and perform as time allows with their dream of performing at the Cross Arena one day.

🎶 Meet the Performers: Matt Scala 🎶

Matt is happy to be back at the RNS Concert, helping raise funds for a wonderful scholarship! Matt can be found teaching and performing all around Maine. Currently, he is working at Windham Middle School as the music director for their musical. He’s also music directing “Bye Bye Birdie” at Schoolhouse Arts Center, and will soon be working on “The Marvelous Wonderettes” at the Community Little Theater. Matt recently played Spongebob in CLT’s production of “Spongebob the Musical”, and Ted Schneider in “Disaster the Musical” at Schoolhouse. When not at rehearsal for something or other, he teaches private voice and piano lessons in Standish and Lewiston.

Matt would not be perusing his passions if not for Dr. Nick’s guidance and shared love for music and teaching. He’s fortunate to have had him as a teacher and now colleague, and wishes him best in his incredibly deserved retirement!

🎶 Meet the Performers: Georgia Noonan 🎶

Georgia was the 2012 recipient of the Richard Nickerson Scholarship and a four-year member of the Windham Chamber Singers. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance from Plymouth State University and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins University. Currently, Georgia is a regular soloist for the Casco Village Church United Church of Christ and the East Raymond Chapel. She will be performing with the Portland Symphony Orchestra for Bach’s Mass in B Minor in April 2026 and the Midcoast Symphony Orchestra for Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 in May 2026.

🎶 Meet the Performers: Emma Chasse 🎶

Emma Chasse is a former member of the Windham Chamber Singers, and takes private vocal, dancing, and acting lessons. Now, Emma is in her senior year at the University of New England with a major in Dental Hygiene! She has been studying for her boards lately! You may have seen her perform as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, or Miss Honey in Matilda (Schoolhouse Arts Center), as Wednesday in Addams Family (UNE Players), Jovie in Elf (City Theater), and Belle in Beauty and The Beast (Lake Region Community Theatre).
