From mining sand in Kenya to chopping weeds on cocoa plantations in West Africa, out-of-school children are increasingly being put to work during the pandemic, reports The New York Times. The surge in child labor could undo years of progress if we don't act now.

Former students are taking illegal and often dangerous jobs in India and other developing countries, potentially rolling back years of progress in social mobility and public health.
