Windber Kitchen Windber Kitchen is a non profit organization that provides home cooked meals to the community two Saturdays a month. We serve two meals a month.

We also provide non-perishable single serve meals to students of the local school district during the school year. The Windber Area Community Kitchen, WACK, is located in the Windber Calvary United Methodist Church. It was an idea in the making for about two years. In 2009 a small group of volunteers came together and vision became reality. We are a non-profit 501 (c)(3) community organization tha

t provides healthy, home-cooked meals for anyone regardless of disability, s*x, religious beliefs, race, creed, ethnic background, or economic status. Our mission is to feed both body and soul and our door is open to everyone. All meals are served from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. We believe it is important for people to feel the warmth, kindness, and understanding of others. Our presence may provide that little bit of needed compassion for someone. The kitchen is the place in the home where people gather with family and we want our guests to have those same feelings about our kitchen. We know that we who serve are abundantly blessed and receive so much in return! Donations that we receive during the meals are accepted, but not expected. We exist solely on donations and our annual fund-raiser, the Red Rose Ball, which is always held the Saturday before Valentine's Day. We invite everyone to come and share a meal with us and see what we're all about!

đź’ś Honoring Dr. Violette Eash đź’ś

On August 15, 2025, we lost a beloved leader and friend. As WACK’s board chairperson, Dr. Violette Eash was the driving force behind our mission—serving meals to neighbors in need and providing Windber children with weekly backpacks of nutritious snacks.
In her honor, WACK and its benefactors have committed nearly $100,000 to create the Dr. Violette Eash Memorial – Feeding Windber Fund with the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies. This permanent endowment will continue her mission of addressing nutritional insecurity in Windber through long-term grantmaking and community support.

A free community dinner, Saturday, May 6 from 4-6 pm at Calvary United Methodist Church, 1800 Stockholm Ave in Windber PA.

The menu will be Country Fried Steak, Mashed Potatoes with Country Gravy, Vegetables & Fruit.

Meal will be served and sponsored by Eastern Elevator.

All are welcome!
