Doe Valley is only open to the public for this event once a year and welcomes participants of every skill level! This ride started a few year's ago as Amelia's Angels, by Ryan Dunbar, who has two daughters with Cystic Fibrosis. Having two small ones with CF leaves you with little time to run an event, so he handed it over to me, Katelyn. For those that don't know, CF is a genetic disease that affe
cts the way salt passes through the cellular wall. This creates very thick mucus in our lungs, which causes infection and damage. Many of us are extremely skinny, but we eat like horses. Our bodies work so hard to function, that we burn through calories like nothing. It can also cause CF related diabetes, and kidney and liver issues. Currently, there is no cure for CF. Average life expectancy is mid 30s, but 30 years ago kids with this disease weren't expected to reach high school. There are so many drugs in the pipeline that have been 100% privately funded by donations. People like you are the reason that's happening. CF is not considered to affect enough people in the world to warrant government funded research. Every break through medication has been a result of the kindness of people like you. Doe Valley Rocks is a great property, the owner Rich Karosic and his family, along with all the campers are wonderful people. Trails range from stock to a full out challenge for your built buggy. The ride is for a great cause, and please, if you have any questions-about the ride, or CF, I'm an open book.
