After nearly four hours of borderline panic, we managed to get through sorting the girls and scheduling yesterday evening😅 PLEASE bear with me as I create the Heja groups and schedules today. Because of the number of flag teams and their game structure, we are not able to have designated squads this year. So instead of following a team schedule, each cheerleader will receive their own individualized, printed schedule for the regular season games. This means they may be with different coaches week to week unless you specifically requested someone. Additionally, all requests to have the girls cheer with and/or for family and friends have been accommodated! For those that made special requests, PLEASE let me know as soon as possible if there is a mistake when the Heja and digital schedules are published. And again, please bear with me as it’s going to take me some time to arrange all of this for over 50 cheerleaders.

Just a few updates!

Practices were switched around this week so that any families wanting or needing to attend this evening’s community pep rally could go. Peewee cheerleaders do not participate in this rally —it is for JV/varsity activities.

Officers will meet this weekend to organize squads and a game schedule. I’ll be uploading everyone to their respective squad’s Heja account on Sunday. A post (and, if necessary, text messages) will be sent out so that you can join the new groups. All communications will be through the Heja app starting Monday!

Apologies for yesterday. Of course it decided to clear up entirely after making the call to cancel practice. It seems that’s how it always goes, but we do prefer to be on the safe side in case of potential thunder and lightning. If after Monday it seems the girls need a little extra practice time, we’ll add an extra half hour to Thursday’s practice. Everyone will be updated on Heja if we do decide to extend Thursday.

We’ve been closely watching the weather, and it looks as though we still have conflicting forecasts that are constantly changing and some heavy clouds. With thunderstorms being a possibility, we just don’t want to take the chance of the girls being caught without shelter.

We’ll meet at 6:00 Monday at the same location!

The girls are doing a phenomenal job, but if we need to add an additional practice in over the next few weeks, we absolutely can.

Thank you all so much for your understanding —these calls are just about impossible to make!

If the forecast doesn’t improve, there is a chance we may need to reschedule tonight’s practice. Please check back later this afternoon, we will try to make a decision by 4:30 at the latest!

SO sorry to anyone that wasn’t aware that we switched the schedule up this week so that families could attend the community pep rally tomorrow. I made several announcements at practice Monday, but making a post completely slipped my mind. The confusion is entirely my fault —sincere apologies!

🕕 Drop off 6:00pm, pick up 7:30pm
📍 Ray’s metal pavilion, Windber Rec Park

✨ Cheerleaders should dress comfortably,
wear sneakers, and be sure to bring a
water bottle!

✨O’Shea’s candy bars will be distributed Monday!
⭐️ This is our mandatory fundraiser for the
season
🥨 NEW pretzel flavor available
🍫 Each cheerleader is responsible for
buying a bag of 25 assorted candy bars
at $2 each
🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 Families with multiple cheerleaders
will be responsible for no more than 50
candy bars
💵 Payment is due Monday before receiving
your candy
🍫 Additional candy bars will be available
upon request, subject to availability

Unfortunately the cost of the O’Shea’s candy bars has increased, and we are no longer able to offer them at $1 each. Other organizations have been selling them at $2+ for a few years now with no issues, so we’re hopeful that they’ll be just as easy to sell as always!

🌟Radar is iffy, so if It begins to downpour while the girls are lining up, please plan to pick your child up at the high school. We’re going to attempt to make this work the best we can!

🕛 Parade begins at 12:00pm

Graham Avenue, turn right onto 13th Street, and
proceed up Somerset Avenue
📍 Pickup at the corner of 14th and Somerset Ave,
near Dollar General

Parades are not mandatory acitivities. Participation is always encouraged, but not required.

We will be making the call for the Miners Day parade around 10:45am. Please check back at that time for an update!

We ask that parents please remember that we’re only able to use our best judgement when making these decisions as weather forecasts vary greatly between organizations.
