📢📃Missed our last Pop-Up Shred Day? We've got you covered this month! NW Works is hosting its October Pop-Up Shred Day on October 23rd from 10 AM to 2 PM, with the assistance of NW Works team members. The event is being held in the NW Works parking lot at 3085 Shawnee Drive.
While donations are always appreciated, the first box of paper to shred is complimentary. Cash, check, and credit card donations are accepted. Every donation we receive during our shred days goes towards helping us fund programs and services for the over 250 adults with disabilities served by NW Works.
Please note that this is not a real-time shredding event. Paper will be collected and secured, then shredded in our secure facility.

Last Friday, the NW Works team broke out the flannel for our First Friday Spirit Day, an activity that's become a fun way to celebrate together each month. As we welcome the fall season, we're keeping the spirit going each month to further connect our team and have fun!

Happy World Smile Day! At NW Works there are so many reasons to smile, ranging from our top notch services in Group Day Support, Employment, and Business Services to the way our individuals impact our greater community. Our staff at NW Works ensure that while individuals are developing skills, building their confidence and maximizing their independence, each team member is able to have fun while doing so. October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month! NDEAM occurs annually to recognize the positive impact of people with disabilities in the American workforce. This yearly event began in 1945 as a weeklong national observance of the contributions of people with physical disabilities. In 1988, Congress designated the commemoration as NDEAM, which then evolved to acknowledge the importance of increasing opportunities for people with disabilities, including those with mental health conditions and other nonobvious disabilities, in the workforce. This year's NDEAM theme will be "Celebrating Value and Talent," carrying the spirit of last year's celebration forward through 2026 in honor of America's 250th birthday. Celebrating Value and Talent recognizes the value and talent American workers with disabilities add to our workplaces and economy and highlight their achievements. At NW Works, we're proud to recognize NDEAM and play a small role in supporting adults with disabilities in our region on their journey toward independence. Learn more about NDEAM at dol.gov/NDEAM

Happy International Day of Sign Languages! At NW Works, we're honored to support many deaf individuals and others with hearing loss. Using sign language within our organization facilitates inclusive conversations, opens up new communication channels, and can be a workplace skill that many of our team members use in loud environments.
